The official one year on post.....

Certainly a strange one and one that is going to have far reaching consequences for our futures I think. Yesterday marked one year since the first lockdown in the UK and 126,284 deaths from Covid19, with many other people who have life changing conditions following their recovery from the virus. The UK marked the anniversary with a one minute ( Read more... )

I think if I'm allowed to travel I'd rather try and boost the economy and help keep the British holiday destinations/historic houses, castles, museums and attractions going by spending my money here. I also would rather not have swathes of tourists travelling here if at all possible, as who knows what they will bring with them?

Absolutely. We are hoping that we may be able to travel to the British mainland by the middle of summer, as the vaccination levels, infection rates, and dominant strain, should all more or less match. But certainly no further afield.

I also worry about getting stranded somewhere - no holiday is worth getting stuck in a different country with no idea how to get home again.....

I don't understand that - I have no urge to travel abroad this year

Absolutely not! We'd spend the whole time being petrified. I am beginning to think of things we might be able to do once restrictions lift but we will need to start small after a whole year of not going anywhere and most definitely in this country. If things get a lot better we might venture to go away for a couple of days, but nothing more than that.

I definitely don't mind considering hiring a holiday cottage/AirBnB like we did last year as there were just the two of us, but I'm not sure about a hotel. Too many other people.....

It's been a hard year, with just too much time to think about all that has happened. My health was taken in a different direction this year and I swear it was all because of stress.

I hope the upcoming year is better for all of us.

I'm sorry you've had some health issues - I think stress is a major contributor to health and it's been so upsetting this year (AND you've had the orange man to contend with as well!!!!!).

I hope the upcoming year is better for all of us.

Can't be said often enough!!

High school is grade 10-12. They did this weird thing in the late 90’s until a couple of years ago where there was middle school which recently fell out of favour.
Interestingly enough your had over half of the population of my hometown from birth until age 18.

Ah - thank you for that clarification. The school ages vary across the UK too with some schools taking a different age range in Scotland and the North of the country.
