That class sounds like great fun and very delicious. I would love to take a class like that. I love honey comb, was it hard to make?

I was so busy look at and reading about the chocolate class that I skimmed past those beautiful pictures. The Queen Elizabeth costume is absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks!

The chocolate making was very interesting.

To make honeycomb:
Make a caramel by melting caster sugar with some golden syrup. The quantities don't matter at all - but he used about 2 cups of sugar and about half a cup of golden syrup I would say judging by eye. Keep stirring it to make sure it doesn't burn and slowly is better than rushing it.

Once all the sugar crystals have melted and it's changed colour to a dark golden colour (don't burn it!), add one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda and mix gently on low heat for about 30 seconds. The mix will get much lighter and puff up. Then pour onto a greased baking sheet or a silicone sheet to cool. Don't touch it as it will burn you. Once cool break into pieces. You will need to cover it completely in melted chocolate if you want to keep it as otherwise it absorbs water from the air and goes syrupy, but if you're using it within a day or so it'll keep OK.

Have fun!!

Oh, that does sound good! Tempering always looks like a faff, but with someone else doing cleanup I might well be persuaded!

It's well worth going to a play at the Globe; I've seen two or three, and thoroughly enjoyed them. It's worth paying for a seat and hiring a cushion, though!

The chocolate course sounds really interesting.

Yes, I'm not sure my back would take standing for two and a half hours - and I definitely want to see a play there now!

The chocolate course is fascinating.

That dress is amazing. And very beautifully made. I enjoy hand sewing, but for long seams, give me a sewing machine any day *g*

I must admit my friend and I wondered why they were hand sewing things that wouldn't be seen as surely getting in and out of costumes means that there's quite a lot of wear and tear on the seams. I love my sewing machine!!
