Final day of our holiday…

We are travelling home tomorrow, and so today was the last day of exploring the area around Suffolk. The forecast was supposedly cooler, but it felt a lot hotter today (weirdly!) 28C/83F - there was no breeze, so maybe that was the difference

I haven’t been to Sutton Hoo but we went to an Archaeology Day at the British Museum a few years ago and there was a half sized replica of the Sutton Hoo boat on display. I think a group from Sutton Hoo itself were trying to raise the money to build a full-sized replica. Even half-sized it was big! Shame they only have replicas of the treasures on display but it is understandable.

They are currently building a replica ship which will be finished next year. They are going to launch it into the nearby river!

It's too bad the originals are in the British Museum but I suppose they're better guarded there and more people can see them that way.The boat is huge! I remember seeing the treasure in the British Museum some years ago and it's truly fascinating.

I think the treasures should be at Sutton Hoo but I suppose more people can see them in London. There’s just been a huge scandal about thefts by security staff of items from the British Museum so I’m not sure how safe they are LOL!

I'd love to, but I would need a glass kiln, and I don't have one of those (way too expensive!)
