You seem to miss the point; the authors of this version of the New Testament are the ones mocking Christianity.

Personally, I have the deepest respect for all religions and many religious people, but that is an entirely separate concept from saying I have respect for everyone who is religious.

In the instant case, I cite the text entirely in context. I don't uses ellipses; you're getting the full quote. What we see emerging is a pattern of ignorance, intolerance, and misrepresentation of reality to impress ill-founded point upon readers. Were I Christian I would find that demeaning. As I am not I find it shameful and have no problem exposing the text (that it, the portions that are not the actual text of the New Testament) for the foolishness it is.
