I started FF2 (the GBA version, Dawn of Souls), but didn't get very far. =/ Forgot the chick's name, but I had trouble outfitting her with the proper equipment so that she'd actually be useful in battle.
One thing that is hard to pick up on early though is that shes starts in the back row. It's better to move her up front with the rest else she's limited to magic and bows, mostly. At least until the end.
She and Leon were doing the most damage to the final boss. Flare is a great spell, ultima is also decent if you work at it, flare was doing about 1/4th of the total damage and the blood sword was doing a bit over half. The other two characters were doing the last 1/5th or so..
That said, as long as the GBA one has the same difficulty curve, it shouldn't be a hard game to finish in 25 hours.
