The whole cartoon muhammed thing keeps getting sillier.

I found this article from ABC to be interesting, but the point I took issue to was on the last page.

I don't think the pictures were a particularly good idea. But that doesn't mean that it should have been illegal to create or publish them. Conversely, it's well within the Muslim world's rights to boycott Dutch products, or the newspapers, or whatever. But making a diplomatic incident out of it is just... well, "silly" really does seem to be the best word for it.

And it reminds me once again that, no matter how upset I may be with our government, and however much I think our own civil rights are being eroded, I'm still lucky to live here as opposed to many other countries in which I could have been born...

Yeah. The boycotting I can handle. That's just free market economics at work there. The main thing that I thought was silly and absurd was when they stormed an EU embassy with guns over it. That's going a bit too far.
