Joe user rss feed...

Looks like the Joe User site won't work out, I'm going to purge the feed off here. They keep updating their date stamps which causes other sites to include the same post multiple times. :(

Not sure what to do next. Maybe I'll check with that site Zaitcev is on.

I wanted to e-mail you about it. Right away Joe User showed up a low technical level: the site feed was not discoverable (although there was a link), feed also was composed backwards. Clearly they do not know what they are doing.

As far as managed blog hosting goes, LJ is the best. Of course WP is a more featureful platform, but it faces persistent security issues; it's SLA is nil; general policies are shaky. One little DoS and you lose your account. Blogger is catching up, but it is still the second best. Both LJ and Blogger take a lot to learn.

The problem with LJ is the ownership by the SUP.

Mee.nu is a special case. It's a one-man shop. Anything happens to Pixy and it's the end of it.

True, JoeUser seems more of a side project for Stardock and one that has mostly run its course and been abandoned. ImpulseDriven is their new site, but they've wrapped it back into a closed site and gotten rid of RSS entirely. It's an interesting site, but they seem to be mostly interested in keeping it closed, thus it's not really interesting to me. I'm finding that chi.mp is also a bit glitchy unfortunately. I suspect I'm going to be playing with dozens of these things before I find a setup that works for me.

Wordpress was something I was considering installing on Yosuke directly, but I'm thinking I may switch instead to a Django based solution running on Yosuke. I was planning on setting up an entire aggregation setup there myself. That's going to take a bit of time though. I'm in the process of redesigning all of kazriko.arkaic.com in Django as well. I've finished my game status setup in it, just need to get my entire web toolkit redone with it.

I'm not sure I want to go on Blogger, I already have too much running on google

I've gone ahead and taken the plunge on building a new blog site based on Pinax and Django. It has a couple of other features that will allow me to move things off of facebook as well. It's still a bit rough, so I'll try and post it here once I get the RSS feed and a number of other minor edits worked out. (RSS feed shows every user on the site's blogs, no way to narrow it down to one. Avatar scaling can't handle transparent images, etc.)
