KH: CoM Sora-side overview
KH:CoM picks up right at the ending of Kingdom Hearts with the intro showing Pluto with the letter in his mouth, and Sora & Co. giving chase as Pluto runs off. Later on, they stop during the night, Donald and Goofy falling asleep, and Sora walks off to a crossroads, when suddenly a mysterious man dressed in a black hooded trenchcoat appears, telling Sora, "Ahead lies something you need. But to claim it, you must lose something dear."
As they continue down the path, Sora and his companions find a massive fortress called Castle Oblivion. They enter all feeling that this is where they will find their lost friends (Riku and Mickey). Instead they find the mysterious figure who spoke to Sora earlier. When Sora and his companions attempt to engage the figure, they find that their abilities seem to have no effect. The figure then explains that at the moment our heroes entered the castle, they forgot every ability they had previously known. This figure continues by creating a deck of cards made from Sora and his friends' memories, and tells them that everything they encounter in this castle will be based on their memories.
They advance, finding on the first floor, Transverse Town, and the FF crew who was there before. Ending with Aerith relating to Sora that all of the things they find in Castle Oblivion are just illusion. As they start to climb, they find they are losing their own memories! And somehow even Jiminy's journal is blank. As they climb, Sora begins to forget about Kairi. During the climb they encounter two members of the Organization (the folks in the black coats). A fiery red-head named Axel, and Larxene, a callous lady. Sora & Co. have to fight both, but they are revealed to be nothing more than tests.
After battling Larxene, Sora remembers the name of a former friend of his that he forgot: Naminé. He learns that she is being held in the castle, and ascends the castle, clashing with Riku who proclaimed "I'll protect Naminé!". Sora is left confused by Riku's actions. As they continued to clime they met another member of the Organization, Vexen, who revealed that the Riku that Sora had just fought was only a fake Riku. And then, Vexen created another card from Sora's memories, the card of Twilight Town, Vexen claimed that this card was made from the other side of Sora's heart. What could that mean? Sora enters Twilight Town, not recognizing any of the locations, eventually meeting up with Vexen again, inside, near a large mansion. Fighting him again, Sora defeated him and just before he could reveal something Axel arrived and slew Vexen, saying as he killed him "Now you can be nothing instead of just being nobody." What did he mean by this?
The next and second to last floor was made from Sora's memories of Destiny Islands. Wandering though the memories of himself and Naminé, Kairi completely forgotten, Sora eventually reaches the final battle against Darkside. Upon it's defeat, Sora finds two Naminé's! Talking to them both, one of them is the Naminé from his memories, while the other is the real Naminé. Sora learns from Naminé herself that the hooded figure he met earlier is named Marluxia, and is in fact manipulating both of them into being his servants, in an attempt to take control of the Organization. He also learned that everything he remembered about Naminé was fake, planted in his memory by her. Naminé was never on the islands, but the only thing Sora can remember is her.
Fighting up to the next and final floor, killing Larxene in the process, Sora is forced to fights Axel again, as Naminé is being held captive by Marluxia, and he threaten's her life if Sora doesn't comply. Sora merely defeats Axel, since neither of them wanted to fight eachother, leaving him as he goes off to fight Marluxia. Finding Marluxia at the top, Sora forms an alliance with the Riku clone, they fight and defeated Marluxia. Sora then bid farewell to the Riku clone, who left to find the truth to his existence. Naminé then tells Sora that she can fix his memories, but to do so she must put Sora to an unnatural sleep that would restore him to his former state, but he would forget about the events that transpired in the castle. Agreeing to this, but making the promise that he would find Naminé again, he had Jiminy write in his journal "Thank Naminé." He climbed into the device to restore his memories, not knowing what the future held.
Final Count: Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Jiminy: Broken brains and in sleep for a year.
Organization: Down 3 members, with Axel being the sole survivor.
