[12] Kodomo no hi (Children's day) [Voice post; Action log]

Dec 23, 2008 12:11

[On the fine snowy day, a little boy girl stands by the window while wrapped in comforter. She blankly stared at the snow flakes falling as her breath fogged up the glass, swiping it clear with her big sleeve before having to repeat it again. The world outside seemed different. She then turned her head to look at the rest of the room.]

[Haruka's eyes widened to the sound of that. She poked her head back out and answered with a small smile.]

Yes.

[ she begins to lead the way out the door and probably towards the kitchen. ]

Let's see what we can cook up, then!

[ ooc: Sets should be able to jump in somewhere around here, right? ]

[Setsuna joins them here. Trust Makoto to be the one to help out in this situation...]

Mako-chan, Haruka-san. Are you going somewhere?

[Saying 'Haruka-san' despite the age-difference... well, she's used to it.]

Yay! Sounds good! kazeno_youni December 29 2008, 03:24:13 UTC
[She began to follow Makoto when she suddenly heard a familiar voice. Turning her head, Haruka looked up at the other tall lady surprised.]

Setsuna?

Sounds good to me! herculeansenshi December 29 2008, 07:36:47 UTC
[ she looks up in greeting with a wide smile. ]

Ah, Setsuna-san! Haruka-san and I were just going to get a snack. Would you like to join us?

[ for her, there's no way to proceed other than to continue addressing Haruka the way she always has, and to go about the occasion as if life were proceeding more or less as usual. But, try as she might, she can't quite help but offer a sheepish smile. The situation isn't exactly normal, after all. ]

[Setsuna gives them both a calm smile in return. It's a tame curse, compared to the other ones they've had recently. Dealing with young!Haruka is easier for Setsuna than dealing with her regular self; children just hit a soft spot within her.]

I would, thank you. That's a very good idea.

[She looks at Haruka.]

What are you hungry for, Haruka-san?

[Haruka watched the two ladies speak before a question was addressed to her. Looking down at the floor pondering, she thought of all the things she would normally be given during snack time, which always happened to be either be carrot and celery sticks or a senbei (Japanese soy sauce cracker). Having only to savor a cookie once in a while, she shyly looked up at Setsuna and softly asked, prepared to be told "no".]

...May I have a cookie?

[ her first reaction is a small hint of surprise - just at the way Haruka speaks, such a striking contrast to her normal confidence - and she looks to Setsuna, quizzical. ]

Why not, right?

I know, it's killing me as well. And Setsuna. But mostly me. 134_340 December 30 2008, 15:09:34 UTC
[She meets Makoto's eyes and nods. To think that this child would grow up and change so much...]

Of course. We have quite a lot of them.

[She looks at Haruka, raising one eyebrow:]

Are you sure that's all you are hungry for? A cookie doesn't do much for a hungry stomach, you know.

[Haruka's eyes light up to the unexpected answer. Looking at Mako and then back to Setsuna, the little blonde smiled. She gathered up enough courage to ask for yet another thing she rarely got to eat.]

Hamburger.

[ she can't help another small jolt of surprise; if she recalls correctly, the adult Haruka-san is more of a salads person. That said, who could deny a kid something like this when it would obviously bring joy? ]

Oh, do they sell those around here? [ she glances at Setsuna, askance ] Or we could try and make one.

[Setsuna is not all that surprised by Haruka's request - this is a good example of the way time changes a person, even in the most striking ways.]

I suppose we could, if we have the right ingredients. I admit it's been awhile since I made - or ate - one.

[Haruka stared at the two conversing over her request, growing unsure of whether it was a good idea to ask them for such a thing. So she quietly declined her request.]

It's ok if you can't.
