From Rags to Riches in Twelve Easy Definitions

ozarque posted a short story in twelve definitions awhile back, which gave me this idea... Worry not, tis quite worksafe - just long enough I decided to put it behind a cut. (Updated 7/9/05 - found some goofs.)

Making it dependent entirely on made-up words was a tricky decision. I think your made-up words could have been more euphonious.

Your other intent, to set up a situation by way of the glossary words, was successful -- the story progresses, from one definition to another.

Actually the story pattern being based on a glossary HAD to use made up words - extant ones already have meanings. Though that's an interesting idea, to use the definition of existing words for a story. Thanks for the suggestion.

The words were the last part of the story made up, and invented solely to be in proper alphabetic order - in fact I had to get back on later and fix a few that had gotten left in interim form. In fact the premise originated in a universe I'd come up with some time ago - the real name of that trade league is the Teklenan, the enforcement arm is the Sar'lant, and most of the other items also had names that wouldn't have sorted out in the right order at all.

As I said, this whole thing was based on this post by ozarque , which you might like to take a look at. She's the professional wordsmith - I just like to play with the things.
