I was curious about this book. Wanted to see what all the ruckus was about. Got the pdf and gave it a try. *blinks* Maybe someone was kidding and this is not the book? I very much hope so because - dear Lord! - this sucks so much ( Read more... )

I didn't make it to the end. Was that Twilight? You never specifically said and I'm like one of the few who hasn't read it. Oh, and your commentary: hilarious.

Yes, it's Twilight. If that's really the book (you never know with the stuff from the internet), then I can't understand how anyone could like it.

I have a few friends who have been raving about the series. And I've been reluctant to read it. The last time I hopped on a popular book bandwagon was for Harry Potter (but well Harry is cool). Negative reviews are good. I appreciate yours.

Thanks.

I notice though ... I was already reading HP when there wasn't a bandwagon, yet. Ha. I knew them before they changed label, went commercial and betrayed their sound! (Wait, that's not books.) ;)

Oh gosh, yes! It sucks indeed. If vampires alone didn't do the trick....but the writing and the "let's repeat that I'm awkward but obviously secretly cool and going to blossom miraculously" = urgh.

So right. I was also amazed at the level of self-pity. Urgh indeed.

I guess that appeals to misfits with secret hopes.

Yes, that is the real, unabridged Twilight. Though I don't recall the dialogue in bold ... anyway.

Oh, yes, it's bad. Still, I've read it all. It does make for a easy fast read if you close your mind to the badness of it all, although it gets repetitive. But you can see that I don't truly appreciated because all the time I'm hoping that Bella will hook up with Some Other Guy Who Is Not Sparkly, so obviously I'm not getting the BIG TRUE WUV SOUL-MATE PASSION THINGIE, which is what it's all about, according to the author's website.

*SPOILER - as if you'd care - AHEAD*

btw, do you know why they don't have sex, Edward and Bella?
Because he's so strong and virile and all that, he might accidentally crush her to death while doing the deed. I kid you not.

Anyway, I think I shall continue to read Twilight series when the last book comes out. We'll call it my guilty pleasure and tell people I'm sometimes a bit deranged, ok?

Don't diss the passages in bold. They are my favourite part. ;)

I actually have no comment but I wanted to post this again because it's too hilarious to be told only once.

Isn't this what Lizzy is always afraid of (or Mrs Bennet, in her stead)? I'm pretty sure I saw "crush" in places, but I don't read enough of that stuff to know how widespread it is ;-)

What's wrong with Bella going on top??

True, true, all true. And the bold v. funny...And yet I somehow got past chapter one and ended up sucked in. For three books.

What can I say? While I appreciate good characterization, fabulous writing and the rest, I am basically a plot whore. Once sucked in, I MUST find out what happenes.

Then again, I haven't even had an inkling of motivation to go out and buy book 4, which I think is alreay out.

So, maybe I'm not as whorish as I thought.

;)

(And yes, that is Twilight. Indeed.)
