As promised, here's the pictures. Some earlier shots are mixed with later shots, so I'll try to describe when during the progression of the mess they were taken. Also, all but two of the pictures I'm posting were taken in the IMMEDIATE area surrounding my apartment building. So just imagine the damage you will see duplicated in the entire region ( Read more... )

Yeah... Mrs. S. lost her driver's side mirror before we got her car moved for her...

It's still hell around here. I'm about to go pick a pizza up to bring back to the office where I'm camped out for me and the roomie to share.

Some places aren't going to get power back for weeks it looks like. One of the power companies has a bunch of main feed lines that went down out in the country area where it's hard to get to. They have to fix those before they can even get to residential areas.

Mine will be after they get main lines up since we have a line to our building down. But I have places to stay. I have some relatives 5-10 minutes from my place that have power back, so I'm going to stay with them starting tomorrow until I get power back.

It reminds me of June 4, 1993. We went five days without power and water then due to a storm that was a mix of tornadoes and straight line winds...

Only, this is more widespread and more dangerous due to the temps...

I have seen it all in the news. I lived in Kansas last year so we went a week or two without power and had to stay inside (it sucks taking a bath in freezing cold water when it is freezing cold). This time around I had to worry about my step dad who is still there and his family, he got it easier though. I hope things come back together fast and that clean-up doesnt take forever.

I LOVE my gas powered hot water heater... I still get hot showers even though the apartment is cold.

And I've places to stay. So I'm not that bad off. :-)

Yeah... It's just unimaginable the amount of damage we have. I'm crossing my fingers for electricity, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

What beautiful pictures. That kind of thing must be scary to live through though. I particularly love the first one - so much graceful majesty :-).

The view (especially before it melted) were so pretty but at the same time so *wrong* because of the damage...

I'm staying with some relatives nearby who have their power back... Hard telling when I'll get mine back. :-(
