I'm bored. I mean, I am eternally grateful that for a short space of time I have had ACTUAL WEEKENDS, and I'm sure I'll be kicking myself this time next week when I realize yup, they're going away again for another few months. But I have no particular fannish projects holding my attention at the moment (still in post-Big Bang slump, though it still ( Read more... )

Ensemble shows, I hadn't thought of that but yeah! I have such happy memories of MASH and Emergency and Thirtysomething (back when I was twentysomething) and Northern Lights, and Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere...

Learned something about myself there.

Ensembles are just so much more interesting -- so many different dynamics to play. (I have recently started watching MASH from the very beginning. I'm all of two episodes in and it is RIDICULOUSLY SLASHY.)

Darn it, I miss a few days and now you're ahead of me! :)

You have some impressive dedication to start with the beginning of NuWho in order to get a Torchwood kiss in context! Go you.

for all of the many pitfalls of "Journey's End", I will love it forever for giving us all of those awesome people flying the TARDIS together.

Yeah. Up until Ten lands the TARDIS at bloody Bad Wolf Bay, I utterly adore JE. So many awesome people trying to save the Earth! TARDIS-flying party!!!! It's so satisfying. And then all of a sudden the show makes me cry.

Word on "Journey's End". Up until Bad Wolf Bay, it is a BRILLIANT and extremely satisfying episode. And then the Doctor starts taking everyone else's choices away from them, and I get upset.

Apparently I prefer shows that revolve around teams or groups of people and their interactions rather than shows that have one or two characters as their main cast too. All my favourite shows have had that element.

The TEAM! element of Torchwood is vastly more important to me than my shipping Jack/Ianto, and my biggest problem with CoE.

The team interaction was the main reason I watched Torchwood. That was the biggest loss I felt in COE.

There are just so many more interesting interpersonal dynamics possible with groups rather than pairs. And, yeah, that's the big advantage Torchwood used to have over Who, until CoE.
