1. I vastly prefer movie!Faramir to book!Faramir. He feels much more human and flawed to me, and I can actually connect to him. Book!Faramir is too perfect and noble and uninteresting. 2. Elves bore me to tears. It took me several tries to get past the first couple of chapters of the Silmarillion because they were all about elves. 3. Cutting Tom Bombadil was the smartest decision Jackson made. Though I do kind of wonder what the barrow-wights would've been like in the movie.
1. There is no ranking of companions. There should BE no ranking of companions. We may prefer one over another, but let us make this clear: they are all AWESOME. Rose is FANTASTIC, Martha is MAGNIFICENT, Donna is FABULOUS. Even Astrid is BRILLIANT and Lady Catherine is AMAZING. 2. Mickey is way cooler than K-9. Like, times a billionty. 3. Love Ten to bits, but I'm really looking forward to Eleven. Actually, I strongly believe the regeneration should've happened in "Journey's End". It would make the episode much stronger and, frankly, would make more sense. From a storytelling standpoint, Ten's character arc is complete -- much like Nine's was at the end of "Parting of the Ways". It's time and past to move on.
1. Chief/Boomer is my ultimate BSG OTP. Always. And that's what broke my heart the most in the last few episodes. 2. By far the best twist of the show -- which had at least one major twist per episode, for chrissakes -- still remains the reveal of Boomer as Cylon right at the end of the mini. The Final Four reveal was pretty friggin' cool, but by then we were well overdue expecting it. Boomer completely caught me by surprise, and that was what sold me on the show to begin with. 3. 75% of the time, Lee Adama is just kind of a prick. I still love him. But yeah. Prick.
1. WHY THE GWEN HATERS WHY WHY WHY. Look, yes, Gwen gets on my nerves a lot, but then she'll do something so freaking awesome that it BLOWS YOUR MIND HOW COOL SHE IS. Mostly, I don't like the writers trying to push the Gwen/Jack angle, because it just gets weird, and come ON, it is ALL about Gwen/Rhys, OMG so adorable. But yeah. Stop hating on Gwen, slash fandom! 2. I'm not gonna lie, John Barrowman's acting makes me cringe. Not all the time. Not even most of the time. But the man cannot do angst well. You can really tell he was trained as a musical theater actor -- onstage, you need to over-emote or no one will SEE you. Onscreen it just looks silly. 3. Owen is by far the most fun character to play with in fic. He's a bit like House -- he's such a wanker and will say anything to be an asshole, and this is absurdly entertaining to write.
1. Sam is by far the least interesting and least likable character on that show. UGH. He's pretentious, chauvinistic, self-centered, and in conclusion a complete wanker 90% of the time. (The other 10% of the time, he's kind of cool despite himself. Or getting his ass kicked by a girl on TV.) 2. I didn't see the Josh/Donna at all until around season 5. Aaron Sorkin's departure was the best possible thing thing that could have happened to Donna's character -- she suddenly had AGENCY. 3. I <3 Amy. And JOEY LUCAS OMG. Not that there's anyone who doesn't like Joey, I'm just saying. But particularly Amy. 4. Not an unpopular opinion, just a baffled plea: where is all the good CJ/Danny or Charlie/Zoey fic?
