Limbo of the Lost

There’s a game that was released in the UK for 30 GBP (60 USD) last summer that stole their entire environments from Oblivion. This isn’t just an issue that ought to interest gamers though. If you draw or write and are concerned about plagiarism, you really should take a look.

Well this is a whole load of spooky coincidence. My interwebs browsing this evening has also consisted of Oblivion and plagiarism.

In fact I was going to post links to both of the following in a 'here's some random linkage' LJ post this evening, until I thought of something else to rant about.

I beat you to it!

Oh Yahtzee! <3 I like some of the games he doesn't, but I look forward to my Wednesday Zero Punctuation.

Wow. The girl who plagiarized probably thought no one would know it came form a Livejournal. Who reads Livejournal? And what are the chances someone on Livejournal or their friends catch her? I use a lot of sources when I post on LJ, but I've gotten into a habit of using blockquotes or quotes and/or footnotes to give credit.

Majestic's developer is rather sleazy.

Apparently the developer "Steve Bovis Creative/Project Director MAJESTIC STUDIOS" has been spamming all the adventure game forums with fake user names talking about how much they loved the game (Limbo of the Lost). Then Steve himself would show up and thank himself over the comments he made as the fake users, and all the forum members would get excited about the game.*
