See, that's the thing- you read Sin City for the art and for the noir storytelling, and you try your best to ignore the misogynist, violent stupidity of the rest of it. I'm not gonna lie, it's intensely uncomfortable a lot of the time, but I love the way it's drawn/filmed, and I love the way the dialogue sounds. I guess I also get a little bit of a thrill out of how over-the-top it all is, but you're right, it's kind of unnecessary. It's not one of my favorite comics or movies, but I watch/read it purely for style and ignore all the rest of the trappings.

And I have to admit, I cried when I read the story about the old cop saving Nancy from the rapist. That was the only one where the emotions were able to overcome the stupid stuff.

well obviously there's a fairly compelling story behind what terry goodkind writes, buried really really deep under all that shit. but i don't know if that necessarily excuses him for being a sicko.
