Instead of lamenting how I continue to fail at posting (I just remembered that I meant to write something about the brief family vacation I went on, then realized that happened nearly two weeks ago. So obviously I haven't been posting enough), I'm just going to get on with it.

A lot of new stuff about Stargate: Universe came out during San Diego ( Read more... )

books, dr who, sgu, stargate

I read Forever Autumn and I thought, whether or not it was stated, it took place in like New England somewhere. I have no idea what gave me this impression. Good thing I'm not huge on audiobooks. :-)

Yeah, I got the impression it was somewhere in New England, too, even though I can't remember the book saying where the town was located. It just seemed like a New England-ish place. Except for all the pseudo-Southern accents.

Thanks for posting the Stargate Universe trailers. I wanna watch that show. Only just noticed that this means a new show on my list. Didn't think I'd have new shows this year. I think I already like that fanboy guy. So many familiar faces. And unexpected Morris from 24. I hope Justin Louis stays (I mean, so many familiar faces - some of those characters are bound to get killed off soon), I loved him as Monty on Three (the show that pretty much no one else heard of). The show hasn't even started yet and I already have an idea for a crack ending! The Doctor finds them and helps them get home. ...I blame my Doctor Who obsessed brain. But also Muse, because the 30 second snippet of their new single sounds like the DW theme synth. So even the Muse part of my brain in thinking Doctor Who now (I mean more than usual).

The background image of your LJ looks familar.

That Story of Martha audiobook sounds interesting.

The Story of Martha was really good. Unfortunately, I looked it up and the audiobook is abridged. The actual book includes four related short stories as well as the main story. The audiobook just has the main story and no short stories. Which is sad because the description of the short stories sounded interesting.

I have to admit that I was dead set against SGU...until I saw the trailers. That's one impressive cast, and I'm hoping some lessons might have been learnt from SGA regarding plot/alienating certain characters/lazy writing...here's hoping, anyway.

Yeah, when I first heard about SGU I was just upset that it seemed SGA had been canceled for something new. But the cast does look excellent, and the show is done in a different style from previous Stargates. I'll at least check it out and hope they don't get too much like BSG, which I could never get in to.
