I'm watching the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics on NBC right now. I wasn't planning to, but SGA's not on tonight and my mom was watching it anyway. There were some really gorgeous presentations earlier, and now all the different nations' athletes are coming out ( Read more... )

USA had like 300 people I think? SOMEONE PROBABLY TOLD ME WRONG. The US looked so sharp though! Ralph Lauren should do the uniforms every time...

I already emailed NBC and wanted to know why in the world they had to pretend the damn thing was live! We know it's on tape. They can press the pause button for a commercial!

How stoopid to they think that we are?

*sheesh*

Laura looked like she was having fun, but yeah ...

Exactly. I guess it was in the interests of being able to have commercials while not running the Opening Ceremonies for eight hours, but it was still irritating. Couldn't we just not have commercials, just this once? I guess there's too much money in it not to.

They've done it for Other Spiffy Events!

Shoot, they could run a bug in the corner for all I care!

Why wasn't it live? I mean, it couldn't have been (Or is my brain not working right?). Because when I watched it yesterday it was what we recorded they day before when it had been live.

Our announcers were also between interesting and irritating.

Ha, Bush. The announcers said who was boss of which tiny countries we've never heard of before, and Bush was of two. Okay, I have heard of those (at least one of them...don't remember what the other was). Anyway, they commented on how he could stand up when one of 'his' countries's team comes.

-Order of the countries was determined by the number of strokes in their names' Chinese characters.
Thank you! They only told us that they're doing it in the order of the Chinese alphabet. What exactly that meant they didn't tell us.

Really, you had commercials? We didn't because it was on one of the two stations they want money for. But no one wants to pay, because no one really watches those. ...Except for those kind of events.

-I think I'm shipping the announcers.LOL ( ... )

Yeah, we had commercials, like every five minutes it seemed.

I think it was the Samoa with hats. I only saw one (my attention was divided between the computer and the TV). It was a really pretty shade of blue, though.
