Came across this today.

I found myself nodding so hard my head about fell off.

Why don't more people get this concept? Why must people be genre snobs?

You know, it seems to be the same way with music too. "Oh, I'm not pop.. I'm more hardcore than pop, but still not quite rock." It's shameful and sad that some of these people have to weasel around an excuse that their show isn't scifi even though it is. I'm sorry but ALIENS are scifi, whether it's something that can happen or not.

And it shouldn't matter that it's science fiction. Genre shouldn't be an indicator of quality.

My fiction professor from last semester. She was still going for a second masters or something, and she was rather snobby about what counted as literary fiction. I can only imagine the snob level of a tenured prof of 20 years. Probaby has elf voodoo dolls in his office.
