Part 1. The God of Death Descends
Remus was walking down a deserted alley, light wind ruffling the leaves and his hair, the sun setting and colouring the sky above all shades of red and orange. His patrolling of the area was as uneventful as it could be, and he was about to Disapparate and report that the rumors of Dementors hunting here were just that, the rumors, when something caught his eye. A movement, a few branches swaying against the wind. It could be a squirrel or a bird but Remus's instincts told him another story. He turned around searching for the source of the movement, and there was a scream not too far away. A human scream, probably muggle. It was all he needed to know, and he hurried in that direction.
The human hung in the air upside down, something invisible holding him there. It was not a Dementor certainly but something... he had never heard about. The invisible thing was fighting something running (or jumping?) around a small clearing, the poor man screaming in it's grip, then dropped to the ground. Remus ran to the unmoving figure, felt his pulse, relieved that the man was still alive, when something swept him aside, out of the way, the iron grip on his forearm unmistakably human but as invisible as the thing that was now crashing nearby trees. The unconscious man was also swept aside, and Remus had to catch him so he didn't hit his head. The wisest idea was to Disapparate the man somewhere safe, scan his memories, Obliviate him and then return to the Order with a strange report but the Gryffindor courage (or unhealthy curiosity, Remus didn't know which) forced him to stay. Bad choice apparently, because the next moment he was hanging upside down, like the unconscious man now lying on the ground, then he was pulled upward, shook like a rag doll, and thrust into the beast's invisible mouth. His life, his soul was being sucked out, drop by drop, and Remus began to see the blurry, still transparent figures: the beast's horrid mouth, it's scorpion-like tail, and a man in black clothes with a raised sword, his blurry and strangely familiar face distorted by disgust (or was it rage?). Then there was the voice, as familiar as the face, but Remus couldn't quite put it, his brain refusing to work properly, his body getting weaker and weaker.
"Hadou no Yon! Byakurai!" [A/N2]
A lightning from the fighting man's finger hit the beast in the clawed hand that was holding Remus, and he flew down, the creature's howl of rage and pain accompanying him. The man caught him, faster than the lightning he'd just cast, and the next moment he was laid down near the still unconscious man. The fighter's face was right above him, as clear as it could be, and Remus gasped.
"Merlin's dirty pants with pink duckies!" Severus cursed. "You blazing Gryffindors and your stupid courage!"
"Sev--"
"Lie there!" he barked and jumped back to the fighting scene.
The beast howled again and swung it's tail, but Snape jumped out of reach.
Remus couldn·t just lie and watch. Traitor or not, Severus needed help, Lupin was sure of it, and he crawled closer reaching for his wand.
"I said stay there!" Severus snapped, but Remus was still inching closer. "Alright, you imbecile... Bakudou no Ichi! Sai!" [A/N2]
Remus's arms were pulled back, binded, the wand falling out of reach.
"Now, you..." Severus glared at the beast who tried yet again to strike him with its tail. "Odore, Jaen!" [A/N2] The katana in his hand turned into a serpent-like blade, long and elegant black with silver eyes, fangs and markings. It rushed forward once, but the beast jumped back, out of reach. "Bad move," Severus sneered. "Shouchishiyou Bouten!" [A/N2] The blade coiled around the creature and hissed, greenish vapor emitting from its fangs and visibly weakening the struggling beast. "Ikue Chishiyou Dokuga!" [A/N2] The blade-snake raised its head, and a curtain of fangs, greenish silver and smoking, covered the creature. There was another howl, and then the snake dissolved, the beast gone, a single black butterfly fluttering away.
Severus sighed and sat on the ground, his katana still in his hand.
"Now, you two." He stood up and moved to check the still unconscious muggle, then took out a small device, so like one of Albus's favourite possessions, opened the man's eyes and flicked the thing once. A bird's head appeared out of it's top producing a puff of smoke. [A/N2]
"Severus..."
"Promise not to run away."
"Why?..."
"Promise not to run away," Severus repeated with more force. "If you want answers," he added.
Remus nodded once.
"Alright then." Severus waved his hand, and the binds disappeared.
"How did you know I wouldn't break my word?" Remus asked rubbing his hands back to life.
"I know you," Snape said simply.
"And how do you know I won't go straight to the Order?"
"You won't," Snape reassured him with a smirk. "Because I can obliviate you. And not the way you think."
Remus thought about it for a moment, then fell silent.
"Now, shall we?" Snape straightned. "I'd rather not be here when he comes to."
Remus nodded and rose wondering where Snape would take him.
~<~<@
They Apparated into a small bedroom. The windows were covered by heavy curtains, dark green and dirty looking. The furniture consisted of a bed, a small table in the corner and a couple of chairs, everything dark and shabby and covered by a thin layer of dust
"Lie there," Severus pointed to the bed.
Remus looked at him surprised and actually blushed.
"...so I can examine you," Snape added through gritted teeth, and Remus thought he was straining not to roll his eyes. "You must have suffered considerable damage if you can see me," he grumbled looking generally annoyed, but Remus could see the traces of real worry on his face.
"And why exactly is that?" he asked.
Snape arched an eyebrow.
"Why is it so strange that I see you?"
"Because," Snape sighed, "I'm in my spirit form." Remus looked confused, and Severus had to elaborate. "I am not in a physical body at the moment, and the fact that you can see me clearly could mean two things. First, you could have considerable amount of spirit power, either released or close to release, but it is not the case. For one, you would be able to see and touch all of the ghosts you meet, and if I am not mistaken, and I highly doubt that I am, you are only able to see Hogwarts's residential ghosts and some of the family ones as half transparent. Besides, I would feel it. Second," he continued with a pointed look, all the while scanning Remus, "your spirit could be seriously damaged, which enables you to see spirits, shinigami and other incorporeal creatures clearly. And interact with them."
Remus was silent for a minute trying to process the information.
"So you are..." he said finally stopping when he didn't know what to say, how to call Snape.
"I am’?" Severus asked with a smirk. He made a strange gesture, and Remus was covered by a transparent shield. Lupin panicked for a moment, but then calmed down as he was filled by energy, healing him he could tell.
"You're not helping," he said with a small smile.
"Did you expect me to?" a raised eyebrow and a hint of amusement in the black eyes.
"No, of course not, Severus," Remus answered with a smile. "I know you too well to expect something like that."
"Do you now?" Did he imagine it or was Severus's voice a little... flirtatious? Apparently, he took more damage than he thought.
"Well, maybe not as well as I thought."
They looked at each other for a while...
"Shigotochuu desu ne, Seberusu." [A/N2]
~<~<@
"I see you are in the middle of work, Severus."
Snape had to repress a groan at the unpleasant voice. Before the curious werewolf (thankfully hidden by him) could do something stupid (like asking what was going on) he leaned down and whispered as discreetly as he could. "Pretend that you are unconscious and, for Merlin's sake, don't show that you can see either of us." It would be bad, disastrous even, if the horrid experimentator sensed that something was wrong.
"Do you have some business with me, captain?" Severus said not bothering to turn around.
"Am I not allowed to visit my officers to see how they are doing now?" There was a warning hidden in the silky tone.
"You are allowed to do whatever you wish, captain, and I would find it rather kind of you to have the trouble of this undoubtedly long and tiring journey just to visit my humble self."
"Sarcastic, aren't we?" There was a sound of steps, and Severus had to turn around to see what the captain was doing. "As a matter of fact... I was wondering if you could help me with something. It would benefit us both, I am sure, and wouldn't take much of your time."
The implications were clear enough. The bastard wanted to experiment on him yet again, and it took all of Severus's effort not to spit in the captain's face. He was in Kurotsuchi's debt after all...
"Look what we've got here..." Unfortunately Kurotsuchi saw the werewolf. "What an interesting mortal... A wizard, I take it? What an interesting specimen... Is he a werewolf?"
Severus gritted his teeth. It was bad enough that Kurotsuchi noticed Lupin...
"I know he is. Were you by any chance trying to hide him from me, Severus? We should take him to the laboratory and make a few experiments. All of the fame would be mine, of course."
"I am afraid it is not possible, captain," Snape practically hissed, his temper rising.
"And why is that?" The bastard looked genuinely surprised.
"Because, if you haven't noticed, captain, he is still alive."
"Not for long. A couple of decades, and he would be my little guinea-pig. Anyway, you should keep an eye on him, so we would be in the right place when he'll be dying. Otherwise it would be so inconvenient to search for him throughout Soul Society."
"I am terribly sorry, captain," Snape's voice was deadly, "but I shall not permit it."
"What is it, Severus?" Kurotsuchi turned to him, a warning as deadly as Snape's voice on his face. "Are you by any chance trying to threaten me?"
"Of course not, captain. I merely state the fact that it is the only thing that I won't permit or forgive no matter who tries to do it and what is the purpose."
"Now, let me warn you, Severus." The captain's eyes were mere slits now, his voice low and dangerous. "There is no way I am going to let you interfere in my plans, especially you. Have you forgotten who and what lets you 'live'?"
"No, captain, I am perfectly aware."
"Good. Because I can always... You know..." He made a movement with his hand as if dismissing Snape. "Now, I bid you farewell. For now." A pointed look and he was gone.
Severus waited for a minute, then cursed the mad scientist of his captain with all of the most venomous and obscene words and phrases he could remember.
~<~<@
Severus was mad, of that he was certain. Actually, he was more mad at his visitor than he was ever at the Marauders even after their most cruel jokes. A few minutes passed, and Severus still looked murderous, and then it was gone. He was again his calm and sour self, completely impassive, the usual mask hiding his emotions. He came to Remus's side and scanned him again.
"Severus..."
"What?" He sounded tired.
Remus didn't answer. He wasn't sure if Severus would tell him anything, but then...
"You want your answers? You'll get them." A sigh. Then he moved to sit in one of the chairs and started talking again. "I am a shinigami, a Death God, a Grim Reaper, call it whatever you want. And no, you will not die in three days as you probably believe," he added when Remus seemed alarmed. "As I have already told you, there are two ways to see a shinigami, and because of the second one people believe that it is an ill omen to see us, while in reality it is not so. They see us because their spirit is weakened and they are near death." He fell silent giving Remus the needed time to process the information.
"Then..." Remus looked thoughtful and a little sad. "I am going to die anyway..."
"No, you are not. Your spirit was weakened, true, but it is healing. By the time we end this discussion it will be fully healed."
"And I will not be able to see you anymore."
"As a matter of fact, you will. When this ability is opened, it does not fade. You will still be able to see shinigami and hollows."
"Hollows?"
Severus sighed and paused thinking over what he was going to say.
"There are... two kinds of souls that still linger in the mortals' realm. Pluses are ordinary ghosts. And hollows are the souls... that had lost their heart if you will. They feed on the souls of both living and the dead and therefore are dangerous as you can probably guess by your encounter with one of them," the last part was said with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.
Remus frowned at the memory.
"Then... How come you, a living being--"
"Don't get me wrong, Lupin." Snape interrupted him, his expression turning serious. "I am not technically a 'living being'." That earned him a confused look, and Severus had to continue. "I am dead, Lupin."
"But... How? When?"
"Let me show you." He rose from the chair and went out of the room. Remus pondered for a moment if he should follow Severus, but after a minute he was back with a small basin in his hand.
"A pensive?" He nodded then filled the basin.
"Now, shall we?"
~<~<@
A whirlpool faded, and Remus saw the painfully familiar corridor leading to the Shrieking Shack. Severus, the older version (although he still looked younger than his living self), stood beside him while a black haired teenager slipped cautiously through the entrance.
"Wait, it's..."
Severus nodded.
"But James saved you! Didn't he...?" Remus didn't look too sure himself.
"Watch."
And he did. Teenaged Severus entered the room where the werewolf was, and Remus was terrified to see the boy being practically ripped to pieces by the beast, crying, screaming, trying to cast something, anything to protect himself...
"Snape, you there?"
James Potter, young and dishevelled, ran into the room and nearly retched at the site of bloody dying boy. The werewolf jumped at him, but he managed to cast a protecting spell and drag Snape out. A short run, a passage, and they emerged from under the Womping Willow.
"Prongs, you..." Sirius stopped seeing the blood covered body. "Is he alive?"
"Don't know." James panted. "Check him."
"Why me?!" Black looked scandalized.
James glared at him, and Sirius obliged with a long suffering sigh. "Alive... I think." He looked uncertain and almost terrified. "What do we do now?"
"You have to ask?! I don't believe you, Sirius! You--"
"Ah, what an interesting picture."
The boys stopped dead. Then turned slowly to see a man in strange black and white clothes and with a heavily painted face.
"It's..." Remus started recognizing the man that visited Severus, but the taller man raised his hand.
"Just watch."
"Is it... traditional," the man said with apparent accent, "to carry your bloodied comrades around?"
The boys were too shocked and probably too terrified to answer.
"Or do you by any chance need help?" The man smiled sweetly, and the older Severus sneered.
"Erm... Yeah!" Sirius grabbed the opportunity. "Can you?"
"Padfoot, we don't know him!" James hissed.
"He's here, right?" ...and didn't want to let it go. "It means he has the permission! And he won't do anything stupid."
James opened his mouth probably to argue his friend's dubious logic, but didn't say anything.
"You are right, boy, aren't you?" the man said still smiling. "Now, go to bed, boys."
"But..." James still didn't look convinced.
"Don't worry, I won't do anything stupid as your friend said."
Sirius tugged James's sleeve, and he reluctantly went away.
"Saa..." [A/N2] the man said. He was already sitting beside Severus, and Remus could see a somewhat manic glint in his eyes. He spread a hand above the body scanning him then 'hmm'ed. And then Remus had to use all his willpower to watch and not cover his eyes, because the man thrust his hand inside Severus and dragged his soul out. The spirit-Severus had a thinning chain sticking out of his chest, already corroded in a couple of places. He had a wild and confused look on his face.
"Do you want to live, boy?" The man asked.
"Yes," Severus answered, still confused.
"Are you ready to pay for it?"
Severus frowned.
"What do you want?"
"You." The man smiled. "As my little obedient guinea pig."
"I agree," the boy said firmly.
"Yoshi. Sore de..." [A/N2] He pulled a sword out of nowhere and thrust it in the boy's chest.
The memory faded, and Remus felt himself falling.
~<~<@
A minute passed and Remus realized that he was back in the tiny bedroom but his vision was still blurred, and it took some more time before he realized that he was crying. Severus was sitting in the chair he had occupied before, calm and solemn.
"You still want your answers?" he asked cruelly.
Remus hiccupped and tried to say something, but his voice failed him.
"Black and Potter had their memories modified. Neither Kurotsuchi nor Albus could afford the leak of information not to mention their connection."
"And... you?"
"I had my body back. Modified of course. And a status of shinigami."
"And... they accepted you? Just like that?"
"Of course not." Severus made a face. "It took years of training before I could become a real shinigami and was accepted as a member of Kurotsuchi's division."
"Why are you telling me this?" Remus was calmer now although he still didn't know what to make of the story he had just heard and seen.
Severus grimaced.
"How predictably... ungrateful."
"You know what I mean." Remus looked stern now. "You could just Obliviate me. Or leave there dying. Especially after what I've done to you..." His face turned sad, tortured, and he seemed about to start crying again.
"Oh, please." Severus almost rolled his eyes. "Don't act like you are the victim here. And to answer your question. Let's say that I just felt like it."
Remus recognised the defensive tone and felt a cruel need to push the matter.
"How predictably... unlike you," Remus mimicked with a slight touch of sarcasm.
That earned him a raised eyebrow and a small snort. Remus glared for several moments at the darker man, wordlessly daring him to say something, but Snape was silent.
"Severus," the werewolf sighed finally. "I just... I don't understand. What do you want from me? Is it remorse, or revenge, or... What do you want me to do?" Remus glanced at his companion and was almost frightened by the dark expression on Severus's face.
"You don't know a thing," the man hissed. "You self-rightous egocentric idiot! Why in the Merlin's name do you think that it is all about your pitiful self?" Snape rose to his feet and was practically in Remus's face in two long strides. "Why do you always think it is about you?"
"I didn't--"
"You," Severus continued ignoring Lupin's attempt to defend himself, "being a werewolf, you being a threat, you doing or not doing something, you as if you were the centre of the Universe! You, the ignorant, pitiful, self-pitying creature who whines about being so unworthy and miserable and does not want to hear when anyone tells you otherwise--" He stopped abruptly, and it was a few long moments before it really sank in why and what exactly Severus had just said. The darker man straightened and looked away clearly uncomfortable and braced to defend himself if needed.
That was a trait Remus knew how to deal with. He had to change the subject, show Severus that the slip wasn't noticed, but... he really didn't want to. The idea that Snape thought of him something other than a mindless pitiful beast and a killer was fascinating in a strange way, and he desided to push a little deeper, to see if the man would snap or tell him what he really thought.
"Severus, you know I didn't mean it like that." He tried to sound calm, he really did.
The man snorted and still didn't look at him, so like the teenager he once was. The thought made Remus smile, but he quickly hid it and continued in a calm voice. "What do you want from me? Why are you doing this? What do you want, Severus?" He stressed eath 'you' as he would to a student, and not particularly bright one at that. It was either going to piss Snape off, or make him talk, and Remus knew the former was more likely. "Severus?" The man stiffened. "What do you think of me?" The question was soft, no more than half whisper, but Snape flinched as if he was slapped across the face. "Please," he pushed. "Severus..."
Severus's eyes narrowed in a sidelong glare, and less than a moment later Remus found himself pinned to the battered bed with a livid looking Severus hovering right above him. "You want to know," he growled. "Fine. I'll show you," he spat out.
Remus braced himself for a blow, but instead found a pair of thin lips against his own, insistent and hard, almost cruel. It was the last thing he expected, and he gasped in a natural shock. Which was all the invitation the other wizard needed to deepen the kiss and roughly explore the werewolf's mouth still angry and glaring and pinning him down like a snake about to eat it's prey.
Remus half-heartedly pushed at the taller man's shoulders not really trying to get away, but soon conceded and let himself be devoured by the other man's angry passion, shoved into the bed not really responding but not fighting either. A small 'pop' sound caught his attention, and he broke the kiss. "What was that?" Remus was surprised to find his breath rather harsh.
"What...?" ...but certainly not as harsh as Severus's who looked at him confused and a little disoriented, not to mention flushed and dishevelled. "Oh... That would be..." He sighed getting his breath under control and got off Remus. "You are fully healed." He turned so Remus was facing his back.
"Oh," was the intelligent reply.
Remus sat dumbfounded for a few moments watching the other man's back and trying to think. He wasn't as surprised by Severus's actions as he thought he should be, and the idea that someone thought of him that way was appealing, even if it was another male, even if it was the last person he expected to look twice at him. He knew he was a bastard to push the matter, but... Severus was right there, standing, still facing the wall, vulnerable after his outburst, available. He wondered idly what was going through the other man's head and found that he didn't really care as long as he was the only focus of Severus's attention.
~<~<@
"Severus..." He stiffened at the soft voice. "Severus, please... Look at me." Oh, no. Not that. He half expected the werewolf to scream at him or even slap him, but the tone he was using was screaming vulnerability and confusion, and it was nowhere near anything he wanted to deal with at the moment. He wanted to Apparate Lupin back to the battle scene, Obliviate him, and maybe even Obliviate himself, but...
The feel of uncertain hands on his back was a shock. He held still as they explored him growing bolder, sliding up to his shoulders, then back down to his waist, encircling him, and finally a hot body pressed to his back, the werewolf's breath ruffling his hair.
Severus gritted his teeth. He was sure Lupin was playing with him, and he was so tired of being manipulated, played, used. Unfortunately, his body didn't agree with him, and a small voice whispered that it was all right, that the werewolf wouldn't even remember, and it was so nice to feel the other man's body against his own. A short debate with himself ended when the werewolf breathed into his ear, and then licked it slowly, sensually. That was the last drop. Severus turned in the circle of the other man's arms to kiss him with renewed passion, his tongue slipping into Remus's mouth when the werewolf gasped.
A step towards the bed was met with no resistance. Another one, and then Severus was pushing his soon-to-be-lover on a battered mattress, falling down half a moment later, pinning him yet again. And still no protests. The werewolf seemed as eager as Severus himself battling his tongue, making small encouraging sounds, pulling the other man's dark hair.
The sounds were driving Severus crazy. Small needy whimpers, like a wolf cub's, cute yet feral, that was better than he could ever imagine, better than the actual feel of a hard, hot, eager male body under his hands, almost, but not quite, better than the unmistakable bulge rubbing against his lower stomach, almost against his own. That was heaven and hell all at once. There was a moan, and neither man was sure if it was his, or if it was them both. The sounds mingled, and the touches, grabbing, pulling, shredding clothes, pinching, scratching, and 'yes', and 'right there'... A finger on a hard nipple, and Severus was biting Remus's neck, sucking, moving lower, using all the remnants of his sanity to not mark the werewolf, not leave any traces of himself on the other body wreathing under his own, growling and moaning, biting his fisted hand in an attempt to stifle the desperate sounds. A bite, and then another at the toned, scarred chest, a kiss as an apology, and lower still, touching, licking, mapping all the flesh he could find, knowing very well that it was his only chance, that very soon he would be alone again and desperate but unable to feel this body ever again.
A hand in his hair. Severus lifted his head to find a pair of lust clouded eyes watching him.
"You're thinking too much," said Remus between harsh breaths. "Stop it." The hand slid lower and pulled Severus so they were face to face again. "Focus on me."
"And why would I--" The stubborn pride was stopped by a rough kiss and then a lick to his jaw, and all Severus could do was moan and arch into the other body. A pair of hands found his shoulders, and not a moment later Severus was on his back with Remus straddling his hips, a wicked grin on his face.
"Let me..." The hot whisper went right to his groin making him groan and arch.
The werewolf slid down his body leaving a trail of bites and kisses, scratches, nips... Severus was sure he would have multiple marks in the morning, some of them would stay for weeks, and--
A hard bite to his hip, and an annoyed growl.
"You're thinking again. Stop it."
And there was no choice really, because Remus was licking the head of his desire, circling it then moving down to his balls and up again, all in agonizingly slow motions driving Severus crazy.
"Please..."
"Please what, Severus?" The licks stopped and Severus groaned at the loss. "I'm waiting..."
Another groan and Severus grabbed the other man's hair trying to force him to continue.
A low chuckle, and Remus was pulling away even further. "Tell me, Severus... What do you want?"
Snape moaned and arched upwards trying to find Lupin's mouth.
"I can't understand you," the werewolf teased and let a fingertip slide down the other man's shaft.
"You're talking too much," Snape growled through gritted teeth. "And stop the teasing."
"Or...?"
The smug smirk was wiped off the werewolf's face when their position was reversed again, only Snape wasn't straddling him, he was settled between his legs and pinning his shoulders to the bed.
"Or..." Snape smirked and dove to bite Remus's collarbone smug at the sharp cry from the werewolf.
The cries, the wreathing and desperate growls were music to the dark man's ears, the feast of the other body arching, the hands, calloused and strong, pulling on his hair, pushing him down, demanding, selfish, and the taste, musky and strong drawing him almost physically. One perfect inhale, and he was engulfing the other man whole, drinking in the moans, the cries, the growls, pushing the other's hips down. There was no teasing now. It was unnecessary and somehow wrong, and both of them were too much into the act to even try to slow it down. Another desperate cry, and Remus arched and shuddered in release.
~<~<@
He came down slowly, his harsh breathing the only thing he could hear. There was no way to describe what has just happened, and he didn't even want to try. Finally he managed to open his eyes and way a little confused to see Severus rummaging in his robes.
"Severus?"
"Your wand," was a curt reply.
Remus had to blink a few times before his brain processed the information.
"Oh, if you want to get cleaned--"
"Don't get me wrong, Lupin." Severus stood up, and there was apparent evidence that he was not yet satisfied with the intercourse.
"Oh..." Lupin trailed his eyes up and down the other man's figure, all long lean limbs and pale skin.
"Your wand," Severus reminded him.
He stretched and leaned partly off the bed to take the wand out of a hidden pocket and was delighted at the feel of heavy glare on his body.
"Here." He let the other man snatch the wand out of his hand.
"Lay down."
He did with his arms folded behind his head and a smug smirk playing at his lips. Severus crawled back onto the bed and kicked his legs apart, and Remus couldn't stop the smirk widening at the other man's jerky motions.
"Impatient, aren't we?" he drawled feeling smug being the centre of the other man's attention.
Severus cast him an angry glare, and it was a force of will not to laugh as he muttered clearly annoyed between casting stretching and lubricating spells. Unfortunately he didn't have time to dwell on it, because the next moment he was arching with a silent cry as he was filled by his dark lover, his eyes going shut.
"I see you like the results of my little research." Remus pried his eyes open to see the smirk on the other's face. "You see..." He made a little thrust, and Remus literally saw stars. "I modified the lubrication spell..." Another thrust, deeper this time, and Remus was sure he would faint. "for increased sensitivity."
Another thrust and Remus cried out, his legs clenching around the other man. He was growing hard again, and it would be amusing, really, if he was able to think straight.
Severus growled and hissed, his head bowed, a dark curtain making it impossible to see his expression. His movements were jerky and deep, a sure sign that he was at his limit, and Remus reached between them to stroke himself watching the other man. The sight was intoxicating, the sounds made him feel in control even if he wasn't, and the only thing that was missing was actually seeing Severus's face. He reached with his free hand to brush the longish strands out of Severus's face and was rewarded by a surprised grunt and a jerk of his head. Remus smiled and leaned in to kiss Snape, but he pulled back out of reach.
"Se--" He was stopped by a particularly hard thrust and all he could do was wreathe and arch and moan.
The thrusts grew harder, and grunts and moans from the man above him were driving him crazy. Snape drove into him with abandon of a mad man, and still he carefully hid his face. It was frustrating to the point of insanity, and Remus reached again to lift the hair, clutched the other man's shoulder when he tried to pull away, leaned closer to look into the hidden eyes. Severus shook his head, and with a cry and an arch he came. The moments when his face was uncovered were enough to see what the dark haired man was hiding. There was moisture on his face, and it had nothing to do with sweat, and it was enough of a shock to send Remus himself over the edge.
~<~<@
"Severus..."
He grunted into the pillow still out of breath.
"So... What do we do now?" The body beside him moved, and Snape sighed. Now that hey were done, the werewolf was as annoying as ever, and he really didn't want to deal with the situation.
"Get dressed." That was it. He would end it the way he should, and the nagging feeling in the pit of his stomach had nothing to do either regret or longing. Absolutely nothing.
The werewolf sighed and moved again, there was a rustling of fabric and a sound of quick cleaning spells. Snape waited a few moments before getting up and dressing not bothering to clean himself. Lupin was waiting in the middle of the room, and it was all too easy to take his hand and Apparate them back to the battle scene.
"So... It ends just like this." Lupin looked at him with sad puppy eyes, and all Snape could do was snort and rub the bridge of his nose.
"And how did you think it would end, Lupin? I presumed you were not stupid enough to hope that I would weep in your arms with remorse or run back to the Order to pay for my sins."
"I just hoped... Never mind." The werewolf shook his head with a bitter smile.
"Stay where you are," Snape warned. He took out the kikanshinki [A\N2] and flicked once, then shunpo'ed [A/N2] away.

Remus woke up slowly. What an amazing occurrence had he witnessed! Instead of a pack of Dementors he found a pair of young Hippogriffs, and unfortunately one of then decided that Remus was a female of his kind... Well... He blushed furiously. That part wouldn't be in his report.
