Sam was really bad with words at a time like this, but, "You're sure you don't want me to stay?" Jack would understand if she postponed their plans, probably.

Aly was just barely keeping herself from fidgeting with knives as she waited and tried to convince herself not to offer to stay.

"We got it covered," he assured her. "You'd better get back to Fandom before it falls apart." She had a right to stay as much as Charlie and Jane did, but selfishly he didn't want to deal with her being there on top of this right now. "The funeral will be in Harrison. I can let you know when if you want to come up."

She nodded, understanding the unspoken part of that as well. "I'll go make sure the school stays together then so you guys have a Homecoming this year." She paused. "I'd like to come, but I don't have to if the timeline issues are too much."
