I don't understand social parameters.
I don't understand how one person can be outgoing and charming and another person who tries to be the same thing just comes off as irritating and annoying. I don't know the difference between affectionate and clingy. Is there a difference between wanting attention and feeling legitimately ignored?

Absolutely not true. No way should you ever stand for that. That is when you call the manager. Let them deal with it. That is their job, to stand between you and the irate customer.
*hugs* I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I worked retail for a few years and I swore I would never go back to it. It's too easy to lose your faith in humanity when you have to deal with so many nasty people.*
*Although my most hated customers were the ones who came in ten minutes before you closed and insisted on browsing lazily for half an hour before finally leaving and letting you actually close the store.
