Summary: After being rejected by the girl he loved so dearly, Yamada Ryosuke thought it was the end of the world. But when another girl falls for him and they begin dating, is he truly dating her because he loves her or because he just needs someone to fill that void?
Chapter Two: The New Girl
She seemed so familiar, and yet, not really. But he was positive he didn’t know her… right? But now, Ryosuke’s thoughts were muddled with the image of the mysterious girl and her sobs echoed within is mind.
He was going crazy over a girl he never met! Or, one he thought he’s never met before.
His weekend, as disappointing as it was, wasn’t at all relaxing. That girl, Takahashi Rei was it?, was on his mind the entire time.
Man, his brain spent hours and hours trying to decipher who she was and how he knew her.
Ryosuke mentally slapped himself as he entered his homeroom, for it was her, sitting two seats away by the window. Realization dawned; all eyes were on the young idol as he approached her.
She didn’t bother to look away from her view of the sky when he first approached her. But as soon as he cleared his throat, she looked up. Her liquid chocolate eyes seemed to melt as she absorbed the image of him. He just wanted to drown in them.
Kill me now.
Ryosuke nodded to her, and she nodded back. She got up and both headed out the door. Class didn’t start for another twenty minutes or so.
Whispers of buzzing gossip started as soon as the two were out the door.

They were in the courtyard, where not many students roamed at this time in the morning.
She was standing in the shade of a tree as he himself stood a few meters away, in the morning sunshine. The heat emitting from the sunshine on his back went through his navy blue blazer and made him even hotter than necessary. Ryosuke tugged at his collar nervously.
He continued to stare at her as she did the same to him. A silent atmosphere was floating as they eyed each other.
Ryosuke cleared his throat once more before speaking.
“About the other day…” His voice trailed off as he noticed that her eyes were glazed over, almost as if she was expecting a rejection.
Truth be told, after lots of thought, he really did like her. And maybe, rejecting her would be a bad idea.
Ryosuke was well aware of the policy in Johnny’s: about how one could not have a girlfriend until so and so age and what not. But that didn’t matter, for this girl, an average girl, peaked his interest.
“You’re going to reject me right? I knew it from the look in your eyes.” She said it bluntly, and the words kind of hurt him a bit.
He flinched.
Her eyes hardened as she turned to walk back to their homeroom; instinctively he reached out and wrapped his hand around her petite wrist.
Ryosuke could feel all the eyes of their class on him now, watching with interest for his next move.
Rei whipped her head back, a glare set on her fragile features. She looked cute angry.
“Let me go!” Rei hissed.
“Not until I give you my answer.” Ryosuke replied nonchalantly.
Ryosuke let go of her hand and as soon as he did she immediately crossed her arms and began glaring in any direction that he wasn’t in.
“Rei-chan~” Ryosuke drawled out the ‘chan.’
“Nani?” Rei answered icily.
“What if I were to say yes?”
Ryosuke waited for her answer as he watch her facial expressions go from shock, to puzzlement, to pure cuteness… in his eyes anyways.
“I’d be very happy.”
Her ice princess demeanor completely evaporated as pure sunshine happiness illuminated her heart shaped face.
Ryosuke thought his heart would melt right then and there.
Maybe this is love?
They smiled shyly at one another as Ryosuke hesitantly reached out and clasped his hand around hers. They were one now, and it felt… it felt right in so many ways.
Slowly, they walked back to homeroom, eyes glancing everywhere and when their gazes met, both would look away quickly, a warm blush could be seen on both their faces.
As soon as they re-entered the classroom, the chattering and gossiping immediately stopped as everyone turned to look at the new couple, hands still intertwined together.
And just as suddenly as the gossip stopped, all the girls in the class were in full power now, criticizing Rei from her clothes to questions like ‘how could she get the Yamada Ryosuke and not me?’ and things like that.
Ryosuke realized now that he just created a bunch of enemies, and rivals for his heart, for Rei.
Worry began to envelop him, but before it could take its hold, a reassuring hand gripped his shoulder tightly.
Ryosuke looked up into the face of Nakajima Yuto, his best friend.
“It’ll be okay, you like her right?” whispered Yuto as a goofy smile on his face grew.
Ryosuke nodded his head and turned to face Takahashi Rei, his eyes full of wonderment as she pulled out her pink hello kitty pencil case.
He made the right choice… Right?

The day passed by with a blur; with Rei in his life now, every thing, even ordinary items, seemed to have a new sparkle and shine to them.
Is this what it felt like to be on cloud nine?
Ryosuke hoped so, for he was walking Rei home at this very moment. Their hands weren’t clasped together due to the fear of paparazzi people following the idol’s every move.
“Maa~ Ryo-chan, this sucks since we can’t hold hands in public.” Rei murmured as she looked up at the cloudless blue sky.
“I know, but at least no one at school would try to say anything, they know what’s at risk if Johnny-sama found out that I was seeing someone.”
Ryosuke watched as Rei’s smile appeared once more, making his heart beat faster.
The continued walking for a few more minutes before Ryosuke stopped in front of a café.
“Hey, Rei-chan?”
“Mhm, hai?” Rei looked up at Ryosuke’s face, eyes sparking with curiosity.
“How about we go into that café?” Ryosuke pointed over his shoulder. “It could be like… anou… our first date?”
His face blushed as he stared at Rei’s pondering face.
“Well, I do have cram school demo, it’s not for another hour and a half so, why not ne?”
Her smile grew as Ryosuke grabbed her hand and they both walked inside.

The little café they had walked into earlier was a French café. Neither of them had ever tried French food before, so that was an adventure they both shared. Ryosuke could feel the butterflies in his stomach as he recalled on the way Rei’s face was morphed in satisfaction as she bit into her chocolate croissant.
Ryosuke chuckled at the fact that she had a little bit of chocolate stuck at the corner of her mouth. He had reached over with a napkin and wiped it off for her. In return, Rei blushed scarlet and whispered a small ‘arigatou’.
Lying on his bed, he sighed once, wondering what the future would bring.
I mean he likes her… right?
