Unfortunately, every time I'm more than halfway through a fic, I start wondering whether there is a point in finishing it ( Read more... )

I used to quit my fics halfway through all the time. It pretty much (but not entirely) changed when I started to write in English and discovered there are a few people who even enjoy what I do. It doesn't mean I write for feedback, no, I still write to express myself, but the thought I can move someone with my words, if only a little, helps a lot. I still experience various types of writer's block though. So anyway... Well, I guess I can only say I'm still excited about your fic and I hope you can overcome the temporary dispiritedness ♥

Yes, knowing that someone is going to read what I write does motivate me a lot, too. It's like with those Dylan fics. For a long time I thought there was no point in writing them because no one woul read anyway.
It's worse with poems I write (mostly in Estonian). I'm too shy to bring them out and, as a result, I have almost zero feedback, and so I'm not certain if I should go on trying.
Thank you ♥

Oh, about poems... Do you have a deviantART account? It's a pretty good place for that - here's my site http://arwen07.deviantart.com/ by the way, I mostly write poems in Polish, too, but I translated some of them into English once and I was surprised they somehow retained the original emotions. But before I set up an account I'd been very shy about showing them to anyone, until I got some positive feedback and that was pretty encouraging. But yes, it's just different with poetry because it feels so damn personal...

I didn't know that deviantart could be used for displaying texts. Hmm.
Unfortunately I can't read in Polish (I have been planning to study the language but haven't started yet). I quite like the English translation though.
I have showed my poems to some people and some of them said they liked them. But it does feel too personal and the poems themselves generally don't feel good enough to be shown to anybody.
