He would have been 39.  We got a cake since Gabby insisted.  She reworked the standard song so instead of ending it "Happy Birthday to you" it was sung "Happy Birthday we really miss you".  She was 3 when he died

Sigh. I wish that pain like this wouldn't go away, because it never will, but maybe become a little less intense at times. I really think that total true happiness can never happen sometimes because there's always something missing.
