This has been the first night in months that the internet has been able to barb me. I'm both angry and hurt now, and this is the only way I know to vent it

*hugs* Sorry. I could say that I'm right and you were wrong, but I won't. Really, I do think it's better not to get involved. He's her asshole, not ours, and we can support her when she needs it, but I see no reason why you or I should cater to his manipulative whims and talk with him when he demands. If he asks again, you *should* tell him to get over himself. Probably wouldn't do anything good, but he needs it. Tell him he's an asshole and then leave him be. If he's not good enough for Ariel, he's certainly not good enough for you.

I think things will be all right with Ariel. Just apologise. I don't think she's likely to hold long grudges against you.

Sorry about last night. Nothing to do with you, just family stuff and overall exhaustion and unhappiness getting the best of me. It would have been better for me not to say anything to you, though. Sorry.
