Because no one's posted one for a while (and I need help)...

I'm writing a new Harry/Ginny story right now and a small part of it will take place in the US.

My dilemma right now is where to set it. I have it narrowed down to a few places, but I'm not really sure of any of them, so I figured I'd get everyone's opinion.

Portland, Oregon! Can you guess where I'm from?

Ummmm. Let me guess - Miami? :D

Funnily enough, I almost used a Portland in the poll. But it would have been Maine.

Apparently there's also a Portland, Texas.

And Ella will read this tomorrow, ask you about the plot, and you'll sing like a canary. ;)

But that's all right since everyone tells Ella everything, and she can keep a secret!

I need more information to make an educated decision.

I have a character that left England for a while and is living somewhere. This person is getting ready to leave and is thinking about some of their favorite places there and is saying good bye to their temporary home.

Boston would make a lot of sense with the ties to witchcraft. However, I think Charleston, SC would be good. I can tell you on good authority that it's the only decent place in this godforsaken state, so of course I don't live there. It's a lot like New Orleans, but with a British flair as opposed to French. It does have a French quarter though. It's actually a very pretty city.

If you do New Orleans, I could help with places for your character to go. I used to live there. For four years. Also where I voted for. =D

I could also help with Chicago or Memphis since I have spent a lot of time in both cities, but not quite as much help since I haven't actually lived there.

Sigh...not much to attract anyone to my neck of the woods unless you are a big fan of Mark Twain or corn. And as a life long resident of the area...I wouldn't recommend it. =) And I can't vote for Chicago purely on principle.
