I know many people have done this, but I do have a lot to say about the album, and I hope you're willing to listen to my opinion!
(P.S. I kind of worked hard on this review...hehheh.)
Let's get started.
1. N.M.P. (No More Pain) - (5/5)
When I first heard it, I was hooked. I couldn't get enough of the orchestral introduction, Taguchi's perfect voice, and "I don't wanna lose you." Listening to this track, I definitely saw (heard...whatever) improvement from all of them. (ex. Ueda's "No paaaaaain." He beat that high note into the ground! Respect, man.) Plus, FOR ONCE, autotune was used tastefully with Kame's voice. In moderation, it's really cool! I really enjoy listening to that part! (But not as much as Junno's...hehe bias)
2. Love Yourself ~Kimi ga kirai na kimi ga suki~ - (3/5)
Actually, this was the song that got me into KAT-TUN (yes, I'm a relatively new fan). Listening to it in Yamanade, I didn't give it a second thought. But for some reason, it grew on me. It's really catchy, makes me want to dance, and has a nice beat (funky...is that the word?). The message of the song is especially uplifting (and sets the tone of the drama well).
3. FARAWAY (3.5/5)
I love the beat (that's what's best about all of KAT-TUN's songs) and the melody of the chorus. It has a really gentle vibe and everyone's voices are so soothing! It's not one of my favorites, though, NOT because it's a bad song! (Not at all!) I guess it doesn't suit my taste as much as the others do. Maybe this one will grow on me.
4. D-MOTION (3/5)
Admittedly, I was addicted to it when it first came out (it jumped up my Top 100 Most Played playlist like Speedy Gonzalez!). However, after a while, I just got tired of it. There's only so much autotune I can take. Stop it, guys! I want to hear your beautiful voices! On the positive, it's really dance-able and upbeat (and had its LOL-worthy moments...Jin's Jinglish and Kame's chipmunk voice).
5. RIGHT NOW (5/5)
Can you say Mortal Kombat?! The beginning made me feel like doing the robot. Nakamaru saikou! With your beatbox and stuff...yeah. Again, the pumpin' beats got me dancing, and I like the drumrolls during the chorus. The flow of the lyrics was so smooth...it's awesome (but, ain't gon' lie and be a poser, but I don't understand Japanese).
Settings where RIGHT NOW could be played:
-Nightclub
-Epic ninja battle
-Epic ROBOT battle (But not Transformers...they need a touch more badassery)
-Underground fashion show
6. ROCKIN' ALL NITE (2/5)
It's a cute song...but it doesn't appeal to me. It sounds like they're trying too hard to channel old-school rock. The beat seemed average to me. It got my toe tapping, but that's about it.
7. Going! (4/5)
Again, it's cute and uplifting, and it did a better job at the autotune than D-MOTION did. The PV was nice, with the dancing and showing off their talents (LOVE Koki's, by the way). It's sort of encouraging to hear this song, like I can do anything.
8. SWEET (3.5/5)
How do I say this to prevent from sounding lewd...? It sounds like a song you would play while making love! (Not that it's a bad thing...especially regarding Kame). The song has a nice, mellow, "just woke up on a Sunday morning" kind of feeling. Kame has a great voice, but some of those high notes seem a little strained. An enjoyable song overall.
9. LOVE MUSIC (5/5)
Wind has always been my favorite Junno solo, but I think it has competition! His songs have a sparkling, bubbly quality because they're so upbeat and happy! Plus, the fact that he wrote this song makes it even better. And whoa, a Junno rap?! NICE! (I like how he didn't sound like a poser...not much, anyway XD). He reached his high notes so gracefully. I'm so proud!
10. MAKE U WET ~CHAPTER 2~ (3/5)
Yesterday:
"Make you wet, AGAIN."
What?! Again?! D= (looks around nervously)
Why do I get flustered when I listen to this song...he's not even here! Anyway, it's sooooo explicit, and yet, I like it anyway. Koki's just...wow. And sexy, too. I especially like the chorus (because of the beat? I suppose). I like this one better than the first. The other one isn't bad, it's just the new one isn't as awkward (but still makes me just as flustered).
11. RABBIT OR WOLF? (3/5)
I was iffy about the title...I mean, really? But hey, it was nice, fast-talking fun. (I definitely can't learn the lyrics to this song, it's like a blur.) Ueda's voice was nice in this one, delicate and smooth. It's so fast, it's not dance-able, but that's not important (believe it or not). To me, it has an awesome beat.
12. FILM (4.5/5)
NAKAMARU SAIKOU! You rock, man. I've always liked his voice, and this song accented it pretty well. His high voice in the background added depth to the song. My favorite parts were all of the autotune segments. (He said the words...in a nice beat.) Again, when used sparingly, autotune can enhance the song.
13. PROMISE SONG (3/5)
It's a good song, but it's nothing I haven't heard before. It's a great song to fall asleep to (as I have previously learned). The great thing about a ballad is that you get to hear their voices in their natural state, not computerized. It's beautiful and heartwarming, with just the right mix of each voice.
14. HELLO (4/5)
WTF, Koki? With your brrrr? It's funny...and I love it. I really like this song! It makes me want to stand up, dance, and clap my hands (not just because Koki is telling me to). You must know by now how heavily I weight the beats in my ratings, and this is definitely a song with a thumpin' beat. It's also quite the sing-along song (motto, motto, motto!) because it's so catchy. What a way to end the album, with a greeting. Hello to you too, guys. You're all awesome.
Legit Cumulative Score: (3.68/5)
What I'll give it anyway: (4.5/5)
On a scale of "Please shoot me" to "Godly": BEASTIN'! (It's high on the scale)
In general, I really do like the album! Queen of Pirates still holds that number one spot in my heart, but I'm pretty much satisfied with NMP. My favorite part of it is, there was equal exposure of all of the voices of KAT-TUN. It just feels good to hear all of their voices! I like beats, as you can tell (the tempos of KAT-TUN songs are the best part, besides their voices).
So, uh, did I take the review too seriously? If you made it this far along, I commend you, because this was a review of epic proportions (lengthwise). I hope you enjoyed reading it! If you didn't...I don't know what to say.
