So, as promised, some thoughts on Sherlock Holmes: Game of ShadowsMy initial reaction was that anyone who liked the previous film would probably like this one, and anyone who didn't still won't, butI've seem reviews of people who didn't like the previous film but liked this one, and vice versa, so evidently not ( Read more... )

I'm on the fence about the Motherhood thing. On the one hand, nice to see some love and respect going to women and especially mothers. OTOH, bad woman drivers? Having babies is the ultimate proof of something or other? Madge did annoy me a bit, I didn't quite see the awesome as much as I was told about it. The three harvesters/soldiers/whatever were a bit random but they were funny so I don't mind. And the retrofitted house in the beginning was great. But I never understood what the tree people actually were. Just some kind of tree/human interface? And what foretelling? That was never explained either. And I did feel that the resolution was more or less 'cause of Magic'. And I also wondered about the rest of the plane crew, especially poor Anderson who was apparently in a bad way. The whole thing felt a bit dumbed down for kids and the sake of niceness, in a way that Who usually isn't ( ... )

I didn't think of the bad woman drivers thing. That's not so good, especially after Amy being one too. (Note to Moff: Women are actually LESS likely to end up in accidents than men.) OTOH, Madge drove a thing she had never driven before in her life, which is quite skillful ( ... )
