Oh wow. Just wow. This is an awesome fic and I enjoyed it immensely - in particular the X-men and Doctor Who crossovers were fantastic. It's gorgeous and delightful and ever so slightly sad at times.
It's funny, your Pippi actually reminded me somewhat of some Addams Family crossovers I've been reading, and now the idea that Pippi is actually a part of the extended family won't get out of my head. Ah well...
This was simply delightful! I haven't even thought of Pippi in years --more like decades, actually-- but this really seemed to me to capture the exact flavor of the books. Not only that, each anecdote was simply perfect for the universe in which it happened (though I would have liked to have seen Pippi with ST:TNG's Whoopi Goldberg character instead of with Dax from DS9).
Oddly, the first one, without a crossover, was the least fun, I suppose because losing best friends is always a bit melancholy. She'll probably make the very best companion for the Doctor that he could ever have had, that's for sure!
Thank you! I can see the TNG thing, but I have DS9 in fresh memory and TNG not so much, so this is how it turned out.
And yeah, the first one is a bit melancholy. It wasn't even meant to be its own section at first, but I found I couldn't sum up the backstory any shorter than that.
OMG. Pippi Longstocking is one of my childhood heroes, and I know ALL these fandoms and it's one of those perfect things you never knew you wanted. It's also very interesting - it feels as if you've changed the genre without changing any of the rules or facts of Pippi, just by putting her next to fantasy, sci-fi and superhero characters, and somehow I can believe all of this, supernatural Pippi and mutant Pippi and alien Pippi :)
Thank you, I'm so glad you liked it! Yes, one of the interesting things about genre shows is the way they use completely different explanations for the same kind of occurrences. Since Pippi was never explained at all in canon, each of the crossover characters can try to make sense of her, and if one of them is right we don't even know. :-)

I can't remember now how the fic got started, but I have a feeling the X-men bit might have been the first I came up with.

I like that it's ambiguous which of the Doctor's incarnations she meets, because it doesn't matter.

I normally skip crossovers but since I've done both a DS9 and Buffy rewatch this summer I had to check it out.
