Lots of fannish impulses and nothing to spend it on

I'm not feeling a whole lot of new fannishness right now. Which in a way is good, because it keeps me from getting distracted from my DS9 story. Let's face it, that's what usually happens - I get engaged in something else and the stuff I'm doing seems not so important anymore. (It certainly explains why the Supernatural/Joan of Arcadia never gets ( Read more... )

How do you feel about ridiculously silly sexy dinosaur hunters?

Seriosuly. primeval = my current happy place. It's, like, theatre of the absurd, but also somehow deeply satisfying in the way that action/adventure shows were when I was a little kid. I went into it not expecting much, and I got the 21st century equivalent of the crack I grew up on, with bonus snark courtesy of Ben Miller and Ben Mansfield, who basically trade off being The Snarky Ones (often in the same scene, which is GLEEFUL).

I feel... good, I suppose? I mean, I have considered it, what with following the veryveryprettyeyes and all. (Which is a point in favour of Torchwood; I've been told Nana Visitor will turn up at some point.) And isn't the Mad Hatter in there as well? I might go for that. Thanks!

Just finished 2.03. THANK YOU. Will make post eventually, if I don't flake out.

Thank you! I've been trying so hard to figure out why my Leverage squee seems to have vanished and you just pointed it out. It's the problem I have with all procedurals, in that I just get bored after awhile, but I hadn't connected it to Leverage. Because it was Leverage. Thank you.

You're welcome. It's the same feeling I had after a season and a half of House, but it took me longer to reach it with Leverage, maybe because I haven't been mainlining it, or maybe because they're so damn cute. Because they are. It just doesn't help anymore.

They are adorable and the adorable does a lot to alleviate the procedural boredom, but it's not enough. I mean I get home on Saturday mornings and immediately hit up On Demand for Haven. I get home on Monday mornings and it's a big "I suppose I could watch Leverage, I guess." I mean it took me two sittings to get through the potato episode.

I'd hate to stop watching, but I really feel like I might just accidentally do that.

I haven't seen the latest ep yet. Possibly I should. And yeah, it's not a big OMG I WON'T WATCH ANYMORE. It's just... not feeling like watching it.

I'm with you on Leverage. I feel like the characters have barely grown since Season 2 and they're stalled. It is like the show's chosen procedural over characters. And a good procedural is one where the A plot (procedure) reflects directly into the B plot (character shenanigans).

Yeah, exactly. They're not going anywhere. Even the new Nate/Sophie development feels not so new at all.

But I owe taraljc for the Primeval suggestion, because I'm having loads of fun with that so far.

Lurking around here - I dug through your tags because for some reason, I just discovered Covert Affairs. I only discovered it in season three, which seems to revolve around torturing Auggie. Are you still watching?

I can't easily get seasons one and two (I know I watched the first few episodes, but I didn't get hooked then) but I'm sort of trying to catch up.

I'm kind of sort of still watching. I've missed a lot of episodes that I never bothered to get back to, but I've seen most of the current season.
