TV meme + book alphabet meme

I suck at doing things that require long-term committment (anyone I've ever dated could attest to that if I were still on speaking terms with them), but the daily TV mame I saw in pnr's journal appealed to me, so I'm going to give it a try anyway.

By I think the 6th episode the guy Profit had replaced was on to his deep dark secret and was working with a detective to bring him down.

Doesn't mean that they would have succeeded. ;-) I get your point though; it's quite possible that the story would have started repeating itself if it had gone on too long. OTOH, soap operas manage to squeeze life out of their charismatic villains for years, sometimes to very great effect. Probably the show would have had to focus more on other characers besides Profit, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. (I would certainly have loved to see more of Gail and Bobbi.)

But I guess we'll never know if they could have managed or not.

Profit was an awesome series. Absolutely awesome. And it's defined my thinking enough that a show like, say, Dexter, when I have to describe it, I wind up offering something along the lines of Dexter being the bastard child of Profit and Jarod from the Pretender.

Admittedly, I seem to really like this kind of characters - best not dwell on the whys and wherefores of it :-)

Hee! Think of it as cathartic - having someone do what you wouldn't want to do IRL.
