Starting off with a couple of quick things: today's (and most of the week's) brain-melting YouTube vid is the song that doesn't end with Lamb Chop. I have a thing for eternal songs. Once, as a kid, I walked around the kitchen table singing 250 verses of "en elefant promenerade". (For those of you who aren't Swedish, the lyrics in translation of ( Read more... )

Seventeen people missing in the area is just ridiculous! I was waiting for an explanation along the lines of "We kill someone every 10 years, but since the last time my old dad died and I'm a real psycho who's convinced everyone that if one death is good, twenty is better!"

And the tractor rescue with ensuing gun battle was dreadful. Jack shot everyone in the legs then we were expected to believe he was willing to kill someone? Please. The start was good, but the writing was awful and the scariness couldn't sustain the writers' failure to make up their minds. I want to see the good writing, please, and Jack doing all the things Jack does well.

I quite like Gwen/Owen as a symbol of Gwen being sucked further into the Torchwood cult without even knowing what it is - her isolation from the real world and bonding with the team is classic cult behaviour. If she can't tell Rhys about her injury, she's left in shock and pain with no-one to help her but the team, and Owen's seems to have a kink for hate-sex.

Police? What police?

I could do hate-sex, but when she goes "woe I can't tell anyone" and he goes "you can now" my instant reaction is gag-spit-shudder.

Oh! I used to love Lamb Chop when I was a wee nipper. Thanks for that link.

...but something about him and Gwen together in that final scene really creeped me out.

For me the thing is, if you're going to sleep with one of your workmates and not go for the obvious (= Captain Jack) then...why not Tosh? Heck, why not Ianto? But Owen? Susie Costello's a better choice. And she's dead.

David.

Gwen/Tosh would be fantastic. Ooh, the difference it would have made in that scene...
