I'm such a fanwhore. I discovered the extended stats on ff.net, and while hits isn't very useful yet (some of the stories have more reviews than hits), I'm having great fun with favourites - it turns out that of the 45 stories I have on the site, 24 is on someone's favourite list, 14 is on the favourite list of more than one person, and 2 are in c2 ( Read more... )

Non-paid users only got access to those stats since June 20th; my guess is that the hits counter started then too.

As for the update alerts, it's really quite bizarre, but I've noticed the same in feedback sometimes. People say "keep writing!" and you don't know if they mean the story or at all...

I suppose ff.net might benefit from the function I've seen on some other autoarchives, where you can choose between "finished" and "unfinished" when you upload a story. I mean, those poor people can be waiting forever! *grin*

Hey, sorry that I missed your birthday. (I should run LochJournal all the time, shouldn't I?) Belated happy birthday to you!

Do you think there's any advantage to posting your work to ff.net? (Because generally when people talk about it, they complain about the crazy commenters.)

Well, it's somewhere to put one's stories. If the fandom is small or one is new in it, it can be hard to find a suitable forum.

Plus, as I said, I'm a fanwhore. I like even the crazy commenters, as long as they read my stories. (Half of the reviews on Frank's Child are "what does this have to do with Angel?" which amuses me as much every time...)
