Every time we have an Internet class there's a whole lot of boring stuff and one or two things that are actually worth remembering. Last time, I discovered ez2find. Today, it was register.com, where you can look up who is registered as a contact person for a domain ( Read more... )

That's why I use my company address for my customers at their request. alara_r October 14 2003, 09:20:32 UTC
With fanficnetwork.com, the fanfic web hosting company I run as a part of my husband's Internet consulting and hosting company, I typically give the person's name or handle, whichever they prefer, and my company's address, if I'm the one who signs them up.

BTW, register.com is not the only registrar you can get a WHOIS from. www.netsol.com, www.domainmonger.com, and there are others-- they all let you do WHOIS to find out who has registered a domain and the contact address.

That sounds very sensible.

And yeah, I figured it wasn't the only one. We even got one more URL I've forgotten now which was specifically Swedish.

Ouch.

And yeah, I know there's a *reason*. That's what we were taught. If I found a site and it was registered to Jerry Falwell, I wouldn't take it seriously. Good thing to know. :-)

It's just a bit weird to suddenly have people's names and addresses, even if it's not their home addresses.
