"We may be doing an evacuation," the foreman says not quite halfway through my shift. "Don't panic but the (road) construction crew outside hit a gas main and the (upstairs) office is filling up with a terrible gas smell. No but I could smell it in my lunchroom. I almost went out to eat in the truck...until I realized the truck was parked on the corner nearest the construction! The one time I should have parked in the lot instead of the street. haha

Ugh, why didn't they evacuate the people near the bad smell, in the very least? If I were there, you can only imagine how neurotic and anxiety-ridden I would have become, just knowing that.

Did you get the all clear yet?

They should have at least been offered the gas masks to wear like we were given when they were having the floors varnished while we were working.
I...was asking people for matches all day. haha
Yeah, everything was fine by the time I left yesterday afternoon.

Yes. We were fine on the opposite side of the building but the people right above the construction should have been allowed to leave or given gas masks, which I know they have. It may have been hard to answer the phones that way but it sure beats going home with a headache.
