New SGA Fic: Mr. Sheppard Goes to Washington

Feb 11, 2008 23:37

The muse finally decided to get it in gear last night and I managed to put together enough words for a tag to Outcast for the sheps_atlantis comm. Even though it isn't the typical sort of tag, karri_kln1671 said to post it as a tag, so that's what I'm doing. :D

That was excellent. Just a touch sad, but in a good way.

That was just perfect. Beautifully written and so poignant. I actually felt sorry for Sheppard senior, and yet strangely proud of John here.

I really appreciated that the president thought so much of John, and that Patrick came to realise that John's destiny to be a special man had been fulfilled despite him not being what Patrick had hoped he'd be - what Patrick had hoped to shape him to be.

All in all this story gave me a lovely warm feeling and a real sense of pride in John. LOL!

Oh yes, I get that Dave handles things. That does seem what he does best.

Wonderful job. Thanks for sharing. :)

Thanks for the wonderful comments! I had hoped that Sheppard Sr. would not come across as The Bad Guy. I think his intentions were good, but the execution is where it all fell apart on him.

This all started after the scene between Patrick and the President popped into my head. I was going to just write that, but when it came time to put into words, Dave showed up and it ended up being a little different that I'd originally envisioned. I'm happy to hear it didn't lose the feel I'd wanted it to have.

Thanks very much for reading! :D

This is so bitter sweet. Poor elder Mr Sheppard realizing he had driven his own Son away and how!

Good for the president for wanting to meet John's Father and what a shock his father must have been given!

Very nice thoughtful piece, thank you.

Loved this

Thanks, Shell! I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed it. :)

Yes, I see the shock of what he was told as at least beginning a decline in health that would lead to the heart attack that killed him. It might have taken a few weeks for his physical body to die, but I think that a big part of Patrick's soul died right here.
