A Scanner Darkly/Men I Love/White Man's Burden

Alex has been in DC for the last few days as part of his summertime Northeast tour, so I've actually been getting out of the house for reasons not having to do with car insurance. Thursday I went to meet him, Ruth and her boyfriend to see a matinee showing of A Scanner Darkly. It was okay. Not bad, but not particularly impressive in terms of how ( Read more... )

Re: the American History museum, 'cause I've been there way more than I have to:

The First Ladies exhibit is not any better than the American Presidency exhibit. I mean, half of it is a display of famous First Dresses. Well, maybe you would like it. But for different reasons.

Also, the American Presidency exhibit won me over with the section on campaign songs. First time I went there I spent an hour listening to all of them. I still occasionally get the campaign song for William Henry Harrison stuck in my head.

Ah, didn't see the campaign songs. I kind of knew the First Ladies exhibit would be mostly about dresses, but... I like dresses.

If I had known either/both of you were there, I would have looked you up; I was there yesterday with my cousins (who'd never seen DC). Bummed me out that the Pop Culture exhibit was closed, too.

The Museum of the American Indian is supposed to be amazing. We didn't go there because my cousins are from Arizona which is basically a museum of the Ameircan Indian in and of itself.

Really? When I saw it, it was amazing mostly because of its lack of any history, and complete avoidance of what the European settlers did to decimate the Indian community. But I looked at their site and they appear to have actual exhibits now. Maybe I went there too soon after it opened.

Really? Well, I may rent it when it comes out on DVD. PotC II was deeply disappointing. :-( I still need to write an entry on that.

OH! He's hot. :D
I do have a tendency to like boys who are prettier than me, but still, definitely hot.
Yay, DC! I may be there in around a month. Oh East Coast.
