Does anyone else ever watch Nancy Grace? I think I love her. I also am firmly of the opinion that she is not for real, but rather an incrediby brilliant created persona. I can't quite define what it is that's so amazing about her, but watch a segment of her show (I'll admit that I can't usually sit through the whole thing), and you'll see ( Read more... )

tv/movie ramblings, humor

There's been a rise in the number and quality of anti-blonde jokes.

Really commendable job on translating the Russian jokes--they actually made me laugh, and I can't ever make Russian jokes funny in English.

Nancy Grace is, indeed, the goddess of political punditry.

And I don't really get that last Bormann joke. (?)

I didn't actually translate them--I got them from Wikipedia!

The Bormann thing, according to Wikipedia, is based on mocking the Stirlitz character, who was known to be very logical and intelligent and a detective-type.

Isn't Nancy Grace's tagline, like, "Standing up for the victims" or something else equally self-aggrandizing?

I've no idea! But did you know she decided to go into law after her fiance was murdered two months before their wedding? She was going to be an English teacher prior to that. She's like... Legally Blonde Batman.

Hey Kat, I came across your site here; long time no write, eh?
Don't forget the hilarity of Jewish-Russian humor:
A Russian soldier sits on a train next to a Jew, who is eating from a jar of herring. The Russian stares and stares, and finally asks, "What is it that makes you Jews so smart?" The Jew responds, "Oh, It's the herring we eat." The Russian observes the Jew eating his herring and finally says, "I'll give you 5 rubles for that jar." The exchange is made. The Russian begins to eat and then suddenly stops and stares at the jar. "You know," he says, "I could have bought this same jar in Moscow for 10 kopecs." "Ah, you see," replies the Jew, "it's working already."

Ah, yes. :-) I kind of took Jewish Russian humor as a given! Who is this, by the way?

Silly me, I forgot to sign my name. It's . . dun dun dun . . Leah! (wait for applause) How have you been? Seems like forever, no? I think I no longer have your email. And, yes, Jewish humor is a given, but that one is just my favorite.

Oh wow, Leah? No kidding? I'm impressed, how'd you find me?

I still use my old email, I think, but I almost never check it. My primary address is gmail now. I think I've lost yours, too. We should exchange contact info!
