Aw, this is a lovely slice-of-life type scene, very in character for Hermione and spot-on about the ways the war years may have coloured her ensuing life and her habits. And I love how this takes a spin into mystery and romance! She definitely seems like she's ready for some passion to shake up her orderly life.

I would have guessed on Snape, I think, or maybe Percy(another formal gentleman!), based on the style of the letters. :)

Thank you! I'm glad that my head canon of her here is a believably grown up version of our canon girl. I like the little ways that a life on the run could have colored what she does/likes or how she lives as an adult. And I agree wholeheartedly about her being ready for some passion! I also think she needs something extraordinary to make her even bother.

Because I knew that the recipient liked the pairing (and it's one I enjoy too!) I definitely made this a bit Snape-ish, but yes, I think it could easily be read to be someone else. Definitely a gentlemanly type but I think that Hermione would appreciate intelligent snark and witty insults. I think she's not quite as uptight and proper as Harry seems to think in his own pov.

Yay! I'm glad you enjoyed it and it came at a good time. I had a great time with this. I finally made myself cut it off here because I felt like the story was going to go on and on and on and I simply didn't have time! I'm so behind this year on these! (Friday and Saturday's drabbly bits aren't even WRITTEN yet *shushes you* don't tell! oy vey.) There were 3 of them this year that were totally on track to being full length (3-4k) fics and I'm just chunking them off at awkward spots. But I really love the idea of this going on to become a fully fleshed out HG/SS fic. (Also, this idea then inspired me and I went back to reading that pairing for a while. So many long, plotty, delightfully snarky and romantic and wonderful, well-written fics, oh, my heart!)
