This is lovely and delicious! You've got both their characters just right - Kirk's puppy dog eagerness and Sulu's calm and thoughtful demeanor. And this is a wonderful sentence: He casually spun a frying pan in his hand while he talked, handling it with such practiced finesse that Sulu couldn't help but shake his head.
