You should just make pancakes then! It's actually an old tradition. It's supposed to bring luck if you eat pancakes on Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras. IHOP just capitalized on it and turned it into this fun annual event for the non Mardi Gras-ers/people who don't observe Lent. Because pancakes are for everyone! (I ALWAYS want pancakes!)

My parents have a dutch breakfast restaurant and on Shrove Tuesday (one of the many names lol) we have an annual event to raise money for breast cancer research. Pannekoeken for all!

You had me at Dutch breakfast restaurant ... Yeah, that sounds even better! IHOP admittedly is only mediocre (at best) breakfast. I used to go there during my college years a ton, but now I go pretty much just the one time a year. One of those things that has become tradition so I get excited! I LOVE breakfast places, especially non-chain, mom & pop type places. ( Ha! Which this is for you--literally,) Breakfast is my favorite meal to go out for. I'm hungry now ... :)

It's a small chain of restaurants in BC (and one in Edmonton Alberta). Not ginormous, but maybe 17 locations (I think it was 17 at the last count). My parents have owned the one in Abbotsford BC for 20 years this coming August. :D

It has become tradition for me, so I get ridiculously excited! The dates change yearly. It's usually on Shrove Tuesday (the day before Ash Wednesday) but IHOP has changed to a different Tuesday in that general time period before, so keep an eye out!

\o/ pancakes!
