Aw, Second Cup bonus fic! I love this Zach, definitely recognisable as canon's grousing sceptic with a chip on his shoulder, but still with his human credentials firmly in place. His adoration for Marietta being one of them. :) This was wonderful, sweet and happy, perfect holiday fic! ♥ (And I loved that the scarf has been what made Marietta decide he was the one!)

I love Zach too and that's all your fault! He's fun to write and I can really empathize with him. (I'd be a little put off by the Gryffindor zealots and cause fighters too. I prefer evidence and logical discussion to rousing speeches and peer pressure.) Plus, I wanted a chance to branch off from Second Cup and explore some of the side characters. There's just so much more of that story in my head. I love that this leads right into the original fic and imagine Zach bringing Dudley home within a few days of this happening.

I loved Second Cup and yes I noticed that this leads right up to that story. :) Which made me love this even more! If there's more Second Cup spillover in your head I'd always love to read.

Oh, Merlin, you did this on purpose, didn't you? I'm halfway to crying right now.

I love this pairing and I love this Zach. You captured him exactly the way I see him, this gruff, cynical guy who turns into a happy ball of fluff around his Marietta. I love that he followed her around "like a puppy" for a year and I love that it was his scarf that won her over. I love Angelina's badass attitude. I love Marietta's "hair glimmering under the street lights and sparkling with snow," such a pretty image and pretty much exactly what I'd imagined when I left the prompt.

AND NOW, OF COURSE, THE PREGNANCY. Stepping close, she snugged her arms around his waist. Looking up at him, she whispered, "I'm pregnant."This brought me RIGHT to my own moment with my husband, because I did that exact same thing when I told him the news. So I got all teary with happiness, of course. I can't say I know what the characters' struggle was like because I was extremely blessed to conceive early, but the joy in them when Zach spins her around and kisses

I love writing gruff, cynical Zach, so this was a treat! Z/M are actually pregnant during Second Cup so I decided to play off of that and write this story, which plays perfectly as a prequel to the Dudley-centric fic. [Not really a spoiler-- Dudley is the one Zach hires! Also without an interview. :) And there is a lot of Angie in the fic. Though I didn't manage to fit in as much Zach and Marietta as originally planned, they play an important role.]

I just really wanted to write you pregnancy fic, and as I have no personal experience in that myself, I'm glad I succeeded! I'm so so glad you liked it, as I was quite pleased with it myself.

I think you'll enjoy Second Cup too, but don't feel pressured to read it! Just whenever you have time. That was my only hesitation with this fic. I didn't think you'd read the other one, but my muse insisted on writing this story ... But I think it holds up
