This card is always the one that comes up for me. In every reading I can remember (done for me by others, by myself I don't usually focus that way) and on every silly online test. Always the High Priestess, since I was about 14 or so.

I think it hasd a lot to do with how I view life.

It's very difficult sometimes to keep perfectly balanced, yet I continually strive to do do. I can feel the light/dark, sun/moon, male/female, yin/yang, fire/water, passive/active dichotomies on a daily basis. I've spent most of my life trying to balance my Cancer side and my Leo side, introvert vs. extrovert, home vs. tribe.

The only tattoo I have is a direct representation of my feelings on this.

And sinking into the mysteries, being guided by my intuition, constantly observing and weighing and judging and accepting... I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all. But it's not an -easy- thing. Sometimes I'd much rather -not- be sensitive or empathetic. Yes, I know that's perhaps a childish way of looking at things. My thoughts are colored by my past experiences.

This is who I am, though. The High Priestess card is very accurate. She is also representative of the constant quest for self-knowledge. I do connect with her on many, many levels, but... it's a really lonely path, sometimes.

The loneliness of the path is part of the path. In Shambhala, Chogyam Trungpa talks quite a bit about the heartache of being engaged with the world, but how it is a sign of real connection and allowing yourself to be vulnerable. That's not to say it's easy to deal with, but it does come with the territory. The warrior stands on his or her own, but that means that the warrior also stands alone.
