I can't decide whether or not to bother with this list, as I can't figure out why the books on it are included. Yours is the best title so far: random. Which makes me wonder what the list is trying to prove.

Warning: haphazard at best. I think the list was compiled by a publishing company who has released these titles at some point or another.

Someone figured it out: a few years ago the BBC did a poll of viewers' favorite books. This is that list, in a different order, with a lot of seemingly random changes, like the complete works of Shakespeare and JK Rowling.

why are the chronicles of narnia and the lion the witch and the wardrobe listed separately?

That's a good question. I assumed they meant one of the other books but that would in fact be the entire series. It's an odd list to be sure.

I'm not even entirely sure, to tell you the truth. I had expected it to be this AMAZING book that would resonate with me. Instead it failed to hit a cord with me. I may read it again, simply because the way in which my ninth grade English teacher taught symbolism turned me off from the Great Gatsby for the longest time and I know that something similar may have happened with her teaching style and Lord of the Flies.
