Pirates 4 trailer and thoughts

The first trailer for Pirates 4 is out.

It looks awfully promising. It looks freaking awesome, actually. But I'm afraid to get my hopes up after being so utterly, bitterly, horribly disappointed by the third film. I want On Stranger Tides to be fantastic, to revive the franchise, to return to the epic adventure of the first film. It looks good

Nice trailer, but I admit I'm already not expecting too much out of this movie. While I was ecstatic when it was first announced (more Jack, Barbossa + Blackbeard, woo!), and the mermaids look like they might be awesome, I just can't get excited about Angelica. As you've stated, she's just too new, and lacks the history to pull out chemistry; instead it'll be just "there", or come out very very quickly. Plus, one point about Elizabeth was that she was not originally a pirate: she was a lady of the gentry who chose pirate life out of interest and ambition, and we saw her make that choice through three films. Even if Angelica starts out good (looks like it), she just won't have that evolution of character Elizabeth will have.

I'm also disappointed because Pintel and Ragetti supposedly won't be in this one. Just won't be the same without 'em.
