I know that I read that the name pronunciation changes were the choice of the director. He wanted them to sound more authentically Asian and less Americanized (unlike the actors XD)...or something like that.
I'm very much on the fence about going to see this. I loved the series enough that I don't want to see things butchered by Hollywood, and from the sound of things M. Knight really wasn't that much of a fan if he can't even get the pronunciations of main character names right.
On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing the effects.
Jet Zeppelin: Meh, I bet I could out-fire-spell Zuko, Iroh, Azula, and the Fire Lord all at once with both hands tied behind my back.
