Random BSG Drabble...
The first time Lee and Kara kiss is five days after Zak introduced them. They’re on vacation with a group of friends staying in a rented cabin in the woods of northern Caprica. They spend their days being silly and their nights getting drunk. On the last night, after everyone else is asleep Kara grabs a bottle and drags Lee outside to “star gaze” she says. But she walks past the tree line and leads him deep into the woods.
She’s leaning against a tree staring up at the stars through the leaves. He’s standing next to her staring at her. There’s a small smile on her face. She whispers his name and her head lolls to face him, inches from his own. She whispers his name again and then they’re kissing. It’s soft and gentle and so sweet he thinks his heart might break from want and love and betrayal. Her hand finds his and grips it, squeezing hard and dragging it along the bark of the tree. He feels his skin scratch and give and break. It’s such a violent act in the midst of such a gentle kiss. Kara flips their hands and he can feel her repeating the action on herself. And still they don’t stop kissing. There’s blood on his hand and on the tree mixed with hers and it’s better than if he took out his knife and carved their names into the bark.
Finally they break apart and her breath is almost a shudder. They’re inches apart and he barely hears his name trip off her lips again. But he hears it. She brings their entwined hands up between them and looks at the blood on them. Her voice is still a whisper. “Penance.”
There are tears in his eyes and tears in hers and he’s never hated the Gods or fate or himself more than at this moment.
