This scares me:

CARACAS, Venezuela - President Hugo Chávez handily won a referendum on Sunday that will end presidential term limits, allowing him to run for re-election indefinitely and injecting fresh vibrancy into his socialist-inspired revolution.  (NYT/15 Feb 09)

Yes, he still has to win re-election each time. However, at this point, it's doubtful that anyone would be legitimate competition. It would be like someone running for president against the Castro brothers.
