I'm phobic about insects, so Ant Man was never a movie I was going to see. I am waiting for the no-kidding good quality tag to show up on YouTube. I can't cope with fandom on Tumblr, which is good for my staying spoiler-free.
For Age of Ultron, I stopped visiting AO3 a week prior to the US release, because I KNEW I was going to be spoiled by someone's tags or story summary. And then life was crazy and I didn't get back to AO3 until June.
Ha, I had that same conversation with elishavah and eregyrn after we saw a trailer and came to the belated realization that a movie called "Ant-Man" was probably going to feature a bunch of ants. (You would think we would have gotten to this realization on our own, but no.)

You are a better woman than I. I really need to step away from the damn computer for multiple reasons, honestly, but.
If I wanted to avoid, I'd stay off Tumblr. It's a sad fact of life. But since you're here, you can help me out. I tagged all 19,766 of the gif sets I reblogged with cap 3, civil war, captain america, antman, and spoilers. Anything you think I missed?
Yeah, I know. I'm just whining. The movie isn't even out in the US yet! (I am permanently cranky about American movies going into wide release overseas first.)
My current blacklist is:
piece of trash (this has nothing to do with ant-man, I just added it on a whim one day when I was feeling particularly irritated with the tendency to call people trash) ant-man ant-man spoilers antman cap 3 spoilers winter soldier antman spoilers
Granted some of those may not have been actual tags that people used - like I said, squinting, so I'm trying not to get more than an impression of the images, plus I don't want to look too closely at the tags, because of course people comment in tags, which is fine, but which I also don't want to know about. My fundamental mistake was pretty clearly the punctuation.
Have fun big hiking. I will be playing 4 shows over the weekend and so am also unable to see Ant-man. Which I still resent for effing over the Pyms, who are founding members of the frikkin Avengers.
Aw, I just went ahead and saw it (I mean, in gif format, with ambiguous subtitles because nobody has yet agreed on the exact translation from French). Cam quality is really low so far, so I would endorse waiting for better quality to get uploaded (also, you know, in English). But I saw it in part in order to follow the lolarious anxious wank about what does it mean for my shiiiiip, 30 seconds of ambiguous facial expressions stripped of context are so meeeeaningful.
I don't need to see those 30 seconds in the theatre. Although apparently Paul Rudd is funny and takes his shirt off (spoiler alert!). I have no particular feelings about giant ants to contend with, however.
Ahahaha I just honestly thought to myself "they did the post-credits scene in French? Why are they talking in French, do those characters even speak French... oh, right."

I think prep for hiking totally counts for credit. Adulting all the time with beautiful homes and such is too much work. Adult some of the time, about specific things, says I.
I know this isn't helpful, but being off tumblr means I am barely aware of new movies coming out, so if you can restrict yourself from just going there, it would likely be very effective. But you know this, of course.
